Senator Ben Murray-Bruce formerly representing Bayelsa East senatorial district in the eight Senate of the National Assembly, has joined in the campaign against the ram spell of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria police against the Nigerian masses.

According to Murray-Bruce in a statement sighted by Igbere TV, “Every citizen owns the right to life, liberty and happiness but in Nigeria, the very body tasked with ensuring the protection of life and property is the body denying these rights to our citizens. Enough is Enough. The time to end SARS brutality is now!”

Similarly former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, called on the federal government to restructure the police force's Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit across the country.

Saraki, in a series of tweets sighted by Igbere TV on his Twitter handle, also called on government to immediately put a stop to harassment, killings and illegal arrests carried out by the Unit.

"The reports of the continued harassment, illegal arrest, detention and high handedness by rogue cells of SARS against innocent Nigerians - most of them young people - in spite of the efforts to reform the Police & raise standards of policing are disheartening," he said.

"A situation where the officers of the Police Force become a threat to the lives and property of the citizens they swore to protect is condemnable and unacceptable.

"I call on the Federal Government to immediately put a stop to these reprehensible activities and restructure the unit to better perform its lawful duties of safe guarding the lives and property of the Nigerian people", Saraki added.

This was as former vice president and Peoples Democratic Party 2019 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar called for the review of SARS activities across the country.

"The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigerian Police was set up to confront violent crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping and other related crimes. However, the unit has today morphed into an oppressor of the Nigerian masses who strive every day for a better life.

"Reports of intimidation, harassment and outright extortion by officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have continued unabated. I strongly condemn their cruel actions against our people, and I urge the government to rise to the occasion and nip this monstrosity in the bud with the seriousness it deserves.

"It's expedient that the activities of SARS are reviewed to ensure that the rogue elements are excised from the unit and sanity returned to its operations," he tweeted.

Rubbish
The ONLY job of the Nigerian police FORCE is to intimidate/kidnap the citizens of the Negro Area, it was formed that way by the British from the days of slavery and the structure has remained the same

Fela sang Sorrow, Tears and Blood in the decades ago and things are still very much the same.

That's why police, especially in the south would just park a bus and kidnap people and lock them up, this is exactly how slavery worked.

I have noticed that the average Nigerian/Black person avoids critical assessment of his environment,

For those who has refused to see, they won't see that the SE isn't interested in the presidency which has never helped any region.

The SE wants to exit the zoo, not rule it.
