Bill To Prohibit Secret Cult, Similar Activities Passes First Reading In Abia As by AseV(m): 10:57am On Oct 08, 2020
Abia State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed into first reading the Bill to prohibit secret cult activities, possession and use of offensive weapons and for other matters.

The Bill is sponsored by the Majority Leader, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu.

Also passed into first reading on Tuesday is the Abia State Public Procurement (Amendment No. 1) Bill 2020, a Bill for a Law to Amend the Abia State Public Procurement Law No 5 of 2012 and for other Matters Connected therewith, also sponsored by the Majority Leader, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu.

The Assembly also introduced the Abia State Water Sewage Sector Development Bill,2020, a Bill for a Law to provide for the regulation of the Abia State Water and Sanitation Sector and for other matters connected therewith

A release signed by the media unit of office of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji also said the Assembly presented a Bill Abia State Public Procurement (Amendment No. 1) Bill 2020, a Bill for a Law to Amend the Abia State Public Procurement Law No 5 of 2012 and for other Matters Connected therewith sponsored by the Majority Leader, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu.

Also on Tuesday, there was a Presentation of the Report of the Ad-Hoc Committee on H.A.B 4: , The Abia State University Teaching Hospital Management Board Bill,2019.

With the Motion of the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Paul Tharibo, Hon. Thomas Nkoro, a representative of the Ad-Hoc Committee presented the Report.:

"The Ad-Hoc Committee recommended passage of the Bill after amendment of the Title of the Bill to Abia State University Teaching Hospital Bill.

"The House adopted the Report as a Working Document of the Abia State House of Assembly.

"The Speaker committed the Report to the House Committee of the Whole for further legislative action on a future Legislative Date.

"The House deferred other Items on the Order Paper and adjourned plenary to resume on the 12th Day of October, 2020" [/i]the release said.

I don't support cultism, however, effective fight against cultism should start from politicians, where One can no longer get an appointment or contract if he doesn't belong to one useless cult or the other. grin
