Corona virus made me lose my job so the little I saved I decided to use it to open a chemist, since last three months I've been working on it though just last week I opened the place but my problem is that I've gotten another work which I'm expecting to start next week.

My problem is that I don't know if should reject the work and be nuturing my business gradually or I should employ someone though I don't know the risk attached.

Please help a brother I'm seriously confused right now.
If the pay is good, employ someone to manage the business while working to support business. At this early stage of the business, it needs both professional and financial needs. You job will help financially while you can lend your professional assistance to your employee in addition to his/her own knowledge.

In anything you're planning to do, don't lose either of them, try your best to manage the two

If you know how much that chemist will pay you in less than one year you won't even think twice about letting the job go.

The first place sick people rush to is chemist, except they are severely I'll before going to hospitals.

So people buy drugs very cheap and sell times 4 the price they bought in Nigeria here.

You can buy injections for 100 and give at 4k

Some drugs are just 300 but you sell 900

So the gain in that business is massive but many don't know. For a start you need to be on ground to establish the business and gain trust from customers around.

Forget that job ooo be wise...
You're actually a very smart girl.

Can your business pay your salary and you still have enough money left to run the business? If not resume the salary job and look for a way you'll groom someone else to manage the business

The important manner of growing wealth is to have multi source of income not even dual but now opportunity if having dual source has come your way So you have no reason to panic this is a green flag for you and you've got to embrace it. Take the job like you don't care for the business and when you're close from the job resume to your chemists shop...and it wont be long till you'll get a trust worthy sales rep who will oversees you shop.

You better concentrate and grow your business. I'm seriously planning to quit my 300k per month work and go into business. The reason is this: you cannot achieve more than what your salary can provide except you steal. However, with your Business, sky is the limit. Yoruba will say: ise ni aseje, owo (business) ni asela. Meaning you can only make ends meet with employment whereas you can become a millionaire thru your business. Have you ever seen an employee who is a millionaire without stealing or embezzlement?

Wait a minute

Can you hire someone or make someone an offer to oversee your business while you inspect at the close of work each day, so you work and earn a salary and you can channel the salaries towards the growth, development and establishment of the business. This is how the veterans do it. Cause along the line you'll need scarce financial resources essential to have your business established
Good advice

Since it's a chemist shop,it will be easy to apply daily sales data.Take stock of all you've got in the shop, then have a register where daily sales are recorded so you can cross check frequently then it is important to employ a family member, place him on a monthly profit stipend, let him/her live in your house so you can monitor the person!

. Please whatever decision you are taking , don't close down your business. Keep the business running , because one day they will tell you what will push you to slap somebody and you will resign and go back to run your business.

I know about 3 persons that are salary earners. They go to work and close by 5pm then straight to their chemist shops.

And that evening period there are many customers that will patronise them

I had similar experience as yours.
I hired someone to take care of the business while I visit the shop everyday.
I took the young lad with the notion that he is a born again and wouldnt like to bring me down.
I went as far as given him tranport allowances and sometimes feed him outside the bergained salary (I increased his previous salary), pay his salary 26th of every month just to motivate him and turn his mind away from stealing from me,yet this guy would sell and pocket the money until one day someone returned to verify the prices of the items he bought.
Low and behold my guy had gone home with the money and it was not on the record of sales for the day.
The next day he denied that he sold such item until I proved to him that the guy return later at night. I still keep my sales manager but watch him more closely than before.
You have to tighten your belt if you want to maintain both work and business.

My advise is to keep the business, get someone to manage it. Learn from the business and plan towards growing your business to self support your bills and then pull from the work.

Please resume in your new work place. Businesses are suffering big time now during this pandemic and the Nigerian factor.

At least, you will be sure of monthly salary and other emoluments that comes as a corporate worker. Don't allow awon entrepreneurs to deceive you. Running business or being on your own in Nigeria is dangerous and risky.

Worst advice so far.

Business remains business no matter what. Grow up from monthly change

Ahhh employing someone will make your business a basket...people are too selfish and wicked. Please weigh the options of the salary in 5 years time what is your prospect then compare your profit too. Before you move. Goodluck.
