In a bid to restore peace and normalcy in Delta State as a result of the unrest caused by the #Endsars protests across the country.

Delta State governor, Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa is organizing a town hall meetings with the youths across the three senatorial districts in Delta State. Delta North, Delta South and Delta Central Senatorial district.


Deltapointer gathered, that the engagement, was aimed at learning more about the concerns of the state’s young people, including the #EndSARS protesters, civil society groups, students and communities.

In the governors speech, he touched on the issues around job creation, security and youth participation in governance.

He emphasized that his administration has initiated several skills acquisitions and entrepreneurship programs to empower this critical demographic.

He promised the youths that moving forward, in order to learn more about the unique challenges faced by individual communities, he will be asking political office holders at all levels to put mechanisms in place to communicate regularly with the youth.


He also spoke on electoral reform and the creation of additional wards to ensure that each LGA has a maximum of 20 wards.

Deltapoint correspondent, reports that the town hall meeting had representatives of the #ENDSARS movement, civil society groups, students and community leaders as part of the ongoing initiatives to strengthen the processes of governance by engaging periodically with the youth.

The governor also expressed optimism that the Electoral Bill will be signed by President Muhammadu Buhari before the 2023 elections.

He also encouraged the young people of the state to begin to organize themselves ahead of the next general elections, so that they can present more visionary and vibrant young candidates to represent them at the local, state and federal levels.

He emphasized that the more young people serving in public office, they can build more sustainable institutions across board, while also working towards building a stronger Nigeria that reflects the needs and concerns of this critical demographic, the governor said.
