Director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga, has critcised people advocating the scrapping of the scheme, branding them enemies of progress.Tsiga, on Friday, in Minna, Niger State, while addressing some 1,635 Batch ‘A’ corps members, in continuation of his tour of NYSC formations in the country, said that the call for the scrapping of the scheme was capable of threatening the unity of the country which, he said, the scheme had fostered since it was established 37 years ago.

According to him, the contribution of corps members to national development should be commended by all instead of having some people pushing for the cessation of the scheme.

He argued that without the input of corps members, critical sectors like education and health would have collapsed in view of shortage of manpower.
