So I'm a student of botany(level 2)and I'm doing quite really good as I'm on a g.p of 4.6,so along the line everyone i meet keeps condemning the course like it's not worth it and completely a waste of time....

So i tried retaking jamb,of course to change my course.then i realized starting afresh will make me lose precious years and age is not in my side, it's a health course it'll take me about 6 years, inclusive with ASUU strike around 8 years to complete please nairalanders what do you suggest should i continue with botany and aim for first class or switch to the health profession.

Someone said in nigeria the degree doesn't matter but rather the certificate.

Who do you want to be?
Ask yourself the question deeply the answer is there
People should not define for you what you should be,you need to stand your ground, there will always be people who will want to kill your dreams, there will always be negative energy(they maybe parents, family members friends etc).
No matter how interesting you plan there are people to discourage you
Good luck with your choice

Your lack of ambition is making you follow the crowd.
Anyone can have a great career in any field provided one has ambition.
Where you do see yourself after you graduate?
Who do you want to be?

Only you can answer.

I know someone who changed from a medicsl related course on 2:1, to non medical course on 2:2, so he could apply for a masters scholarship after graduating. Which he got.

My dear don't let people deceive you at all
Go for what you have passion
It isn't even about money, but about fulfillment, 80% of Nigerian graduate didn't attain that
So go for it, because nobody will live your life for you in the future
