as long as it has not been registered. You may go check the database of car registration in Lagos. I don't know if Nigeria has a central registration system.

if it is genuine, collect the car before your money will have K-leg.

In my quest to get a corolla, a dealer who i know very well , offered a 2005 CE model which he told me recently arrived , he sent pictures of the car and promised it was top notch,i checked the Vin and it wasn't yet registered in Nigeria , i sent him 2.1m for the car because he made it seems urgent that another person wanted to pay for it , i trusted him ,then on a closer look when he sent another picture i noticed it the millage was 136,000 plus i raise alarm , he said its not notch , then when he brought the car i noticed the customs papers there i saw, the custom duty was paid in August 2018, i thought about many theories .. then i told him i cant take the car , advice me please ..remember I'm a novice in Auto matters.. He is asking for a meeting tomorrow to see how to settle this
There are cars that were imported since 2018 that are yet to be sold. So date of importation doesn't really matter. My only concern is the lie that it was just imported recently. What does he intent to achieved with that. Possibly to just encourage you to buy.
Now smell the interior of the car. Does it smell Toks or not. If it does, then just take the car. It's a good buy

I36k millage is not bad . You are not buying bran new car ...what matters is your maintenance culture . The vin number you collected is suppose to solve two major things for you. One is to ascertain the condition of that car by doing vin Check . Lots of guys do comprehensive vin check here . Secondly , the vin can be used by vio or autoreg office to ascertain if the car has been registered before . Recalled you told us you trusted him for same reason I will not do or say anything against that seller ...except if you were deceiving yourself .so many cars are in the car car stand without being sold ....that doesn't make the car a bad car ...if it will be difficult to get your money back , kindly accept the car ....but next time do the needful by conducting vin check and also don't be carried away by low prices cos you can Only get what you paid for ...last week I offered a car to one of my clients but he decided to buy from another person today they are both fighting ....the car he bought is total rust car ...I took it to a panel beater who is working underneath ...but everything under looks bad ...the only reason he rejected mine was high price ...but he will continue To pay the price of bad decision

It is always a good idea to take a used car to a mechanic before you purchase it. Even the best of all mechanics may not be able to tell you everything that might be wrong with the car. Car can be salvaged, flooded, rebuilt and junked and more
