DIRECTIONS TO OUR FATHER'S HOUSE.

Make a Right onto Believeth Blvd.

Keep straight and go through the Green Light, which is Jesus Christ.

There, you must turn onto the Bridge of Faith, which is over troubled
waters.

When you get off the bridge, make a Right turn and Keep Straight.

You are on the King's Highway of Holiness - Heaven-bound.

Keep going for three miles:

One for the Father, One for the Son, and One for the Holy Spirit. Amen, Amen
Amen!.

Then exit off onto Grace Blvd.

From there, make a Right turn on Gospel Lane.

Keep Straight and then make another Right on Prayer Road.

As you go on your way,

Yield Not to the traffic on Temptation Ave.

Also, avoid SIN STREET because it is a DEAD END. (cul-de-sac)

Pass up Envy Drive, and Hate Avenue.

Also, pass Hypocrisy Street, Gossiping Lane, and Backbiting Blvd.
However, you have to go down Long-suffering Lane, Persecution Blvd. and
Trials and Tribulations Ave.

But that's all right, because VICTORY Street is straight ahead!
Glory AMEN!!!!!

SEND THESE DIRECTIONS TO YOUR FRIENDS SO THEY WILL NOT GET LOST.

Do you actually believe that these three are Gods in the same way that Jehovah is a God? (I'm only trying to rule out metaphors and Gods that in your opinion do not exist.)

We all believe in something. Even folks that don't believe in the existence of any deity as well believe in something. I can confess what I believe which is that there is a God who created all things and made man in his likeness. Science has not been able to give an accurate explanation as to how human came to be and do not as well have the explanation of what will happen when I'm dead. So, I cling to HIM that has got answers and the book divinely inspired by him.

Now, Mammon mandated that his worshipers sacrificed their children in fire to him - Can't believe in him because I can't imagine having to be under the obligation to sacrifice my child for a image someone somewhere sat carved out of wood.

I haven't studied much about Zeus but from the little I know, was called the father of gods and men and had a mother and father. That means his father must have had a father who had a father till infinity. More so, his siblings could, as he was the youngest, could have much more power than he had.

As regards Allah, I'd love to go into concrete details but I wouldn't want to offend Muslims here on Nairaland - You know how they get - nevertheless, lets just say the Quran contains details about the culture and people of another kingdom yet it claims to be valid. Its like an Igbo man named Nnamdi who had never been to Oyo but had heard the story of Oduduwa and the children of Yoruba land. Nnamdi then retells the story to Igbo people, spicing it up to woo them and tells them that Oduduwa's name was actually Chineke but that the Yoruba people who had held on to Oduduwa for over 2,000 years even before Nnamdi was born had mistaken Chineke's name as Oduduwa. He tells Igbo people about Sango, Oranmiyan, Obatala, Oya etc great men that had existed in the linage of the yoruba people and claims to be the final messenger to such great men and that it was through him that the religion everyone was to accept had come. Problem is that the Yoruba people had been instructed by Oduduwa to write down his instructions and events. So the Yoruba people know their own story, they know Oduduwa. Even if the Nnamdi is able to sell the story to his fellow Igbo people in Port-harcourt, do you think he could do the same in Oyo town? Do you think any Yoruba man would buy such watery milk? I wouldn't as well. Fast forward like 1,000 years to the future and you now have the Igbo people telling yoruba people that Oduduwa was a made up story. One problem is that the Igbo people can't do without referencing Sango, Oranmiyan, Obatala to prove their point.

Sorry if my story above was boring but the above is why I cannot believe in these gods Mammon, Zeus and Allah.

1. believe that Jesus Christ was Crucified for the atonement of your SINs and rose up the third day for your justification. Then beg HIM for forgiveness of your SINs and accept HIM as your Lord and Saviour. If you die immediately after this action, you go to heaven. but as you live, you are going to make effort not to committ sins again

2. Forsake your SINs. i.e do not go back to your sins again. galatian 5:18-19. this is not going to be easy but with the help of holy Spirit and your determination it will be possible.

3. begin to pray to God to fill you with the Holy Spirit so that you can live a sanctified life afterwards, i.e a live that easily overcomes sin.

4. read bible and fellowship always.

5. guard your salvation jealously.

So you do not believe that there are other Gods? i.e There is only one entity (Jehovah) who bears the title God? All I'm trying to get at is to point out that God is not his name but his title so I don't understand why some find it problematic to write it in full. I can understand not writing his name in full but his title?
Re: How Do You Get To Heaven? by oritameta(m): 7:04pm On Apr 06, 2011
I get your point. God is a title or more like a pronoun. I don't think there's a law in Israel prohibiting writing G-d as God though. Have read a few comments from Jews who admit that while God is not God's name, they write God as G-d out of respect for anything being associated with God.

Ok then. I hope I didn't derail the thread too much.

u climb the stairway to heaven until u meet Saint Peter at the pearl white gate. He will open a book and judge you on your past deeds. If you led a good life you get to enter through the gate. And after doing several good deeds for people on earth you finally get your wing and live happily forever in a land flowing with milk and honey. If u led a bad life you will burn forever and forever in hell, and never char.

It's funny how an English phrase like God/god becomes 'mine is superior to yours'! If the christians believe in one God and the muslims believe in Allah(their God), then that means there are multiple Gods! Why is that difficult to grasp? By the way, jacobscros, I don't think it has been established where we'll all go when we die. But as at 1.20am British time, when one dies, one still remain dead.

Well I was going through a lot of stress at the time and ended up in hospital and then when I was in bed i felt a spiritual presence come and start strangling my neck . I was absolutely shocked and tried wriggling free and then i felt something come out of my body , almost like my spirit and it pushed away the spirit that was attacking me.

I have heard that some people called the rosicrucian order perform astral travel where they leave their bodies at night and attack people so who knows it could have been that or a wondering spirit but the fact remains that i left my own body for a bit and violently pushed this spirit away.

Apart from this, numerous times while in bed during the day and at night, spirits would come and just press me down and i would try shouting jesus but nothing came out of my mouth. Its called spiritual opression i think. One spirit even pulled my leg and when i tried touching its hand i felt a female hand and it was too strong to pull off but when i let go it left me alone.

When i started praying with pastor olukoyas (mountain of fire ) prayer points, it all stopped.

The fact is that there are powers and principalities that exist and we humans have spirits inside us .

@Poster

As Christians, we have been made holy by the work of the Holy Spirit. and we are called to live as God's own holy people. An example to the world. Our way of live must be distinctly different from that of the unholy world around us.  Every part of our life is to reflect the transforming work of the Holy Spirit. Therefore it is inappropriate for anyone who is united to Christ to have sexual relations with anyone outside marriage. Such acts and relations violate the Christians body, which has become a sanctuary of the living God and is therefore claimed by God for himself.

We are called to live in holiness and godliness in accord with the desires of our creator and judge.

So what do u do?

What are those things that entice (attract, tempt and allure) you to want to commit sexual sin?

Sit down, get a sheet of paper and right them down.

Identify the places where you come into contact with these things.

To avoid is good but not the soultion because anytime you come into contact with the temptation, you might fail.

SOLUTION

Read the bible and let the fear of God take over your body and soul. The fear of God is the begining of wisdom. It is good tool to have when confronted with the temptation of Sin. The Holy spirit which resides in you will warn and convict you that what you are about to do is wrong.
Little by little the spirt takes over your body and soul and the evil desires become weaken and eventually diminish.

Fast and pray against the desire on the power day (Friday) and see the power of God take over.

God Bless smiley

I have no problem about the notion of "means to an end", hence have no problem with the notion of there being Heaven. However, my main concern is the concerns of many that build there spirituality around the "ends" rather than the "means to". Am i making any sense?

Let me make an attempt to explain, basically the golden rule of the majority of religions is based around "virtue(s)" yet this seems to be subordinate relative to the notion of getting to the "end product". As in, if  anyone person maintains righteousness mainly for the resons that he/she will one day be propelled into an everlasting realm then such righteousness has been obtained and not truly earned. This is to say, if for a split second the notion of  there being a heaven as a "reward" for being of good behaviour is false, would YOU be prepared to continue in your good ways? If the answer to this is NO, then it is here that the problem realy lies.

For me righteosness is all about being good just because you can, the buzz one gets from seeing a happy face is worth more than a million in any currency.

My philosophy in life is "Do unto to others what you want others to do unto you." Base all your relationships with others on this principle, then the trip to heaven will be a lot easier. wink
