The labour of our heroes past,
Shall never be in vain
(Culled from Nigeria National Anthem)

Welcome to Nigeria! A nation where the labour of our past heroes, is still being enjoyed by the same heroes. The youths are the leaders of tomorrow they say, yet the old leaders are recycled to top political offices till date.

Gerontocracy has caused more harm than good. Especially those in the legislative arm of government who make laws that most times affect the younger generation. With the ever dynamic technological advancement, most of these leaders struggle to phantom how technology addresses some unresolved socio-political matters. An example of this is the profiling of youths who owns technical gadgets by law enforcement agencies as criminals.
When current leaders similarly run governance as they did in the 1980s, one expects little or nothing from such an administration. Some of the laws governing individuals and businesses today have become obsolete. As a result, the country is in a position to fail amidst the current global trends.

Little wonder our economy is faced with yet another recession. Investors and business owners have anxieties over the uncertainties of most regulatory and archaic laws made by these gerontocratic government.
However we choose to see it, Gerontocracy must end, and a constitutional change must occur to have the Nigeria of our dreams.
