Ideadoctor:
according to your proposition, Benin borrowed some names from their Yoruba neighbours and even intermarried with them, here is the fact, great culture impacts the weaker,it seems Yoruba culture has given the Edo culture an uppercut at that corner, because Edo had seen and experienced the great culture and beauty of the omoluabis,no man takes for himself a wife except the woman is great in beauty and in character, but the last time I checked, you gregyboy, insulted the beauty of Yoruba women and insulted their pride, deduction two from your preposition, some Bini families migrated back to Bini with their Yoruba partners, here is the fact, those Yoruba carries their gene with them and transfer it to their offspring, never minding whether, the father or the mother is Yoruba, the offspring carries the blood of oduduwa, which probably means you may be a probable carrier of these gene, but I am sure you are not,you are too dumb and crude, you are not worthy to be call the son of oduduwa, now the mixing of Yoruba and Edo culture is what the Op was trying to analyse before your tribal ego set in,but at least, thank God that you are learning how to accept things as they are now.

Lol, lets not talk of our gene flowing in the 6 yoruba state, royal bloods not bloods of commoners

you are a wasted Yoruba sperm, the last time I checked, Edo was a carrier of the great Yoruba civilization and blood, take a look around, Yoruba's influenced the whole of Edo to the kingship, while you only influenced in an atomic measure of little eastern Yoruba state.

There are more than 500 words in Edo that are similar to that of the Japanese with the same meaning.
In fact there is a place in Japan called Edo. And Japanese culture is similar to that of the Edo culture when I am free I will write an article on that
1603 to 1868 AD in Japan is even called the Edo period. That was the Togukawa Shogunate with Kyoto still power center in Japan mostly.

As distant as Japan is to Benin, Benin has more common words with it than Yoruba.

I guess I should gather some boys and storm Tokyo to take over Japan. cheesy grin

Actually Edo(yedo, Jedo) was an era/period in Japan. Apparently current day Tokyo was called Edo but not anymore.
