The only man who has ever been alone on this planet is Adam, the man in question. That chapter was of the story or the man called Adam, and no other man.

God made a companion fit for Adam by taking from Adam to make another to complement, not any man but Adam alone. In fact, you could even go as far as to say that Eve was a female clone of Adam's. She was made to God's, not Adam's, specification as a Helper for Adam and Adam alone...no other man could have taken Adam's place were Eve was concerned - that is how God chose to design her so Adam would not be alone.
