I have been wondering for a long time whether unsolicited SMS is something we just have to live with. There's been a hike in these messages from MTN and Glo in recent months and they are mostly repetitive.

I have contacted network providers regarding how to stop this over the years (the most recent being this evening), but the response has always been that there's nothing they can do about.

So I'm wondering: is this something one just have to endure? I wonder if this also obtains in saner climes.

That's for third-party short code SMS. It doesn't stop messages from networks.

These people will make you understand that you can't stop unsolicited SMS from them. This is from experience. "Sorry" is all you'd get from them.
