Hellraiser77: Hellraiser77: You must answer this question: Why did you edit out “Eboe” and replaced it with “Jebu”?? [Everyone knows Ijebus of Lagos don’t live on water] busted! Haha! Your Osu grandmother must be rolling in her shallow grave right now for displaying her picture, editing out her tribe, and rejecting her publicly. Your pikin go do you the same, she said 3 Likes 2 Shares

TheLionofLasigi:Dahomey never dared attack Oyo. They never dared. Dahomey was basically Oyo’s bitch. It was under Oyo’s harassment and control for about 100years or more. The attachment below are the first hand EUrOpEaN reports of the Oyo-Dahomey relationship. It was published in 1793. Do not play into the hand of ignoramuses who have noting to back up their made-up fictions. Please modify. @TheLionofLasigi Forget the nonsense fictions which these dullards peddle around. Never let them lead you on with ignorant fictions. In fact, saying that the Dahomeans defended themselves against Oyo is actually an exaggerated portrayal of the actual historical scenario. Oyo and Dahomey are not contenders in any way. The best way of putting it is to say that Oyo is the Nigerian Army, while Dahomey is IPOB (no offense intended). Oyo literally harassed Dahomey from 1726 to 1730. (first round); before a final subjugation which lasted for 93 years. The harassment was so bad that whenever Dahomey receive the news that the Oyo general Bashorun Yau-Yamaba was leading a Cavalry heading towards Dahomey for another round of harassment, the Dahomean king would order his people to abandon their towns and villages, burn down their capital city and flee into the forests to hide themselves where the Oyo Calvary would not reach. There was a time when the Oyo Cavalry refused to return to Oyo-Ile despite finding no Dahomean in town. The Calvary waited until the dry season passed and the rainy season came — yet the Oyo cavalry refused to leave. The Oyo Cavalry made sure that the Dahomeans exhausted their food supply which they took with themselves into hiding. They wore the Dahomeans out this time instead of returning on finding no Dahomean. After series of harassments from 1726 to 1730, the Dahomean king eventually sued for peace. He requested that the Director of the Portuguese fort at Whydah should arrange things between him and the Alaafin’s representatives. In the peace treaty that ensued, the Dahomey king accepted the overlordship of the Alaafin’s government and agreed to pay him annual tributes. This continued from 1730 up until 1823. Dahomey declared itself independent of Oyo in 1823 during a period when Oyo was more concerned with its own rising civil crisis within its homeland. Again, do not be led on by these liars. They practically lie for a living. Always request them to produce you with a dependable academic material before you will even consider proceeding to engage whatever they’ve been writing. In this aforementioned scenario, Oyo is Nigerian Army, while Dahomey is IPOB. They are not contenders by any stretch of the imagination. Do not be deceived. Refer again to the excerpts below from Archibald Dalzel’s 1793 publication entitled “The History of Dahomy”. He was the then Governor at the Cape-Coast Castle. 7 Likes 5 Shares

I have nothing to do with you, and I wasn't referring to you. I don't have time to quote history because I'm not a historian. Spend less time on this forum because it won't help your life. Afonja. |
