A transcript or an academic transcript is an authentic and detailed documentation of a student's permanent academic records which usually means all courses taken, grades and honours received, and degree(s) conferred on the student. A transcript is also a proof of education one received from a particular institution.

Unfortunately, as important as this document is to an alumnus of any given institution, some institutions of learning still indirectly deny her students of it. The University of Calabar is not left out where most of her alumni have endured a hectic and delayed receipt of this invaluable document; especially those who desire post graduate education. Interactions with some of these alumni did not speak well of the Transcript Unit in the University of Calabar where they are often times frustrated when attempts are made to get their transcript document.

Sadly, the situation is not the same in other advanced and respected Universities in Nigeria, especially University of Ibadan(UI). And one may begin to wonder why the University of Calabar is arguably adjudged a digital university, yet has not followed the footsteps of other universities in Nigeria where the process is conveniently and completely done online.

I join other alumni of the University of Calabar to call on relevant authorities in the University of Calabar to as a matter of utmost necessity look into this protracted ordeal, and possibly profer solutions to it.

The newly inaugurated Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi should take up this matter as her first major assignment as Vice Chancellor which would certainly become a great achievement if addressed immediately, because the complaints are too numerous to ignore. And also see to it that the ICT Unit of the institution comes up with modalities of making the process completely online.

Its quite unfortunate this is happening in this era where every academic activity is almost done online (digital) but Unical is still operating the analog way.
One pays for the transcript online and still have to follow up with the process at the School. Its frustrating! Please let's do something about the situation.
