Nikki Carroll, 40, was left red-faced after claiming she misunderstood her mum's baking tip that meant her bread came out of the oven "looking like a vagina"

A woman who says she misunderstood her mum's baking tip was left mortified when her bread came out of the oven.

Nikki Carroll, 40, was told to cover the loaf's edges in tinfoil to stop them burning, but the centre then rose to a rude outline.

Her mum Ruthy Silas, 60, meant she should cut a hole in the foil and place it on the top of the banana bread for the last few minutes.

But Nikki used the foil for the full 60 minutes and when she finally removed it, the bread looked slightly ruder than usual.

A tear-jerking snap shows its browned centre forming an oval shape with a fold running down the middle of the raised bit.

There's even a small hole at the middle of the fold where the mum stuck a fork inside to check if her loaf was cooked through.

Nikki's mum found it hilarious but agreed they couldn't show the result of their mishap to her "stern" dad Ray, 62.

Instead she shared her crude creation with her nurse colleagues with her joking its taste was "moist" and "sweet".

She posted an image to Facebook where it's secured more than 15,000 reactions, with hundreds finding it hilarious.

The daughter, from California, US, said: "You'd think someone younger than me would make this mistake.

"But I completely misunderstood what my mum said. It's pretty wild. I couldn't do that again if I wanted to."

She added: "It was a complete accident, but it looks just like a vagina.
"It's even got a hole in it where I put my fork in it to see if it was cooked.

"It was supposed to be for my dad, but clearly I didn't take him any.
"I had to tell mum she's going to have to bake him some banana bread, because I wasn't going to take this to him.

"At least it tasted amazing. My vagina banana bread was moist and sweet, so I enjoyed it in more ways than one."

When she shared it on social media, Nikki explained the miscommunication problem she had with her mum.

And she admitted her colleagues found it hilarious when she shared it with them too.

She revealed: "I never expected it to blow up online the way it did either.
"I thought it was funny and I guess a lot of other people do too. For all of us, 2020's been a tough year.

"It was an accident but it's made so many people smile and that makes me happy."
