Most Nigerian leaders have expired- Catholic Bishop
The Catholic Bishop of Awka diocese, Anambra State, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, has said the trouble with Nigeria is that most of her leaders have expired.
He stated this on Thursday at St Patrick's Cathedral, Awka, while delivering his Yuletide message.

He wondered why Nigerian leaders would glued to their seats even when it had become obvious that they had failed.

He said, " Some leaders have overstayed their usefulness. Most of our leaders have expired. This is part of corruption.
Stop empowering youths with Keke.

"Every generation has special blessing of God. Our leaders should fashion ways to encourage young ones to succeed them, even if it means setting up junior parliament.

"The stand of living of our youth should be raised. You don't empower the youths by giving them Keke Nappep or Okada( motorcycles). It's rare for any person who started as Keke or Okada operator to rise to become a Commissioner or a Minister. The youths should empowered with education.

"If we don't treat our youths well now and allow them to determine their future, #ENDSARS is one thing, the next will be #ENDBIGMEN. When a revolution starts it doesn't end so easily.

The Catholic primate called for the removal of service chiefs following increasing cases of insecurity in the country.

He said refusing to replace the security chiefs with those with fresh ideas was a kind of corruption which the government claimed to be fighting.

He alleged that certain individuals were feeding fat on the nation's insecurity, insisting that firing the service chiefs would reduce corruption.

He said, "I know that the fundamental responsibility of government is security and where such responsibility is lacking, it is expected that those in authority should resign.

"When Buhari came in, he promised to tackle insecurity. The same promise he repeated in his second term. Yet we keep witnessing insecurity on daily basis.

"First was the kidnapping of Chibok girls, followed by the Dapchi girls. Now is the Kankara boys. To travel by road now is near impossible. Unfortunately, travelling by air is expensive. Yet our budget on security is alarming.

"We're just making mockery of ourselves before the international community whose eyes are on us. Besides, when we negotiate with these criminals, we're reinforcing them because they will use the ransom proceeds to buy more ammunition.

"I don't feel comfortable with the presidency because of the service chiefs. Pampering them is unhealthy, having exhausted their ideas. If these things are not checked, it will keep recycling. If the service chiefs are sincere, they should resign. But since they're feeding on it, it will be difficult for them.

Similarly, the Anglican Archbishop of the Niger, Dr Alex Ibezim described this year's Christmas as a miracle because of the enormous challenges in the year.

"It's a reminder that our God cannot fail us. Most people died around the world. It a thing that open the eyes of the world and diminished governments that had hitherto thought that they had enermous powers.
He called on Nigerians to stop confessing negatively about the country.

You're one of the problems of this country. The biggest problem of this country is religion. You guys should stop bringing GOD into matters that doesn't concern GOD. You're born into a country where you have Everything, I mean everything, what more do you want??

The day we take responsibility and decide to change our country the better for us. Our problem has moved from bad leaders to bad followers. The way we swiftly burn criminals for stealing biscuits, why can't you do same to politicians.

I can assure my sister that GOD will do nothing for Nigeria because he has given you dominion over the earth.

I want us to start a campaigns in this country, a campaign
to make the law enforcement agents know that they have become the biggest threat to a better life in Nigeria. The police, army, DSS and all, they are the ones used against us and they protect these guys. For God sake we should be fighting on the same side. Let them realise they are being used, that is why the only thing Buhari did after #end Sars protests was to increase police salaries, to keep them on their side, to give them more reason to fight for the existing system.

Nigerian leaders are not they problem. The leaders are just a reflection of the people. Nigerian society is a morally bankrupt one where everyone is greedy, selfish and wicked.

If u like elect a 10years old as president, the situation will still be worst.

You are just talking about the symptoms not the problem. I know u hate buhari but in reality he is not the problem. You and I are the problem with this country. Nobody wants to accept responsibility for anything, it's always the other person's fault.

The police u are talking about, are there not thousands of youth there? Why hasn't anything changed? You blame buhari for increasing their salary but how do u give a grown man a gun to protect u then pay him peanuts. He will eventually shoot u down.

The youths also need to change their orientation because the average Nigerian youth is corrupt, so just replacing the leadership with the youths just because they're youths may not be the solution to the problem but just an experiment that is bound to also fail and not make any significant difference in the results. Things could even get worse than it already is if care was not taken.

So a change of orientation is definitely needed in the nation, for Nigeria needs leaders (including youths) who are not corrupt, and also Nigerians (including youths) who were ready to do things the right way.

God bless Nigeria.
