Due to love for fame and riches, everyone wants to be a pastor. In fact, a pastoral job is more attractive than a secular job in our generation.



Gone are those days when graduates sought only white-collar jobs. Graduates are more interested in starting their own businesses than seeking jobs, which will pay them on a monthly basis.

Surprisingly, starting a church is now equivalent to starting a business. Thereby, increasing the number of men of God.

Consequently, the term ‘man of God’ has been rubbished so much that even herbalist could tag himself as one.



To recognize a true man of God, you have to be spiritually inclined. However, you can recognize a true man of God through these two biblical qualities. If one is to be truly called of God, the two qualities are absolute necessities.

Everyone who was called by God in the Bible possessed one of the two qualities.


God cannot and will not call anyone without the qualities. Anyone who claims to be a man of God without them is a liar from the pit of hell.

These are meekness and lowliness?


Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart…

Matthew 11:29a





If you ask anybody about Jesus, he or she will definitely say something about him. In the Bible days, everyone had something to say about him.

When Jesus was before Pontius Pilate, the governor, Pilate, asked him if he was the king of jews. The response of Jesus was not quite satisfactory.

In his lifetime, he did not say much of himself except what he said in Matthew 11:29. He said, he is meek and lowly in heart. Those two qualities he mentioned was the sole reason behind his calling.

Other men of God had these two qualities. From Moses to Apostle Paul, the qualities were evident in their lives.

In Deuteronomy 34:10, the Bible recorded that the second greatest prophet, after Jesus, was Moses. He was a prophet who communicated with God face-to-face.



As per lowliness, his parents were both levites I.e he came from a tribe in Israel that had no inheritance. More so, he was a stammerer.

As per his meekness (the act of being gentle and submissive), the Bible recorded it in Numbers 12:3 that Moses was the meekest man on earth.

He had the two qualities. No wonder he was extraordinary.

Possessing one of the two qualities is enough for God to call someone. However, Moses possessed the two, and it was evident in his life and ministry.

More so, God chose David.



According to 1 Samuel 16:11, David was the youngest in his family. His lowliness was evident in his family as he was the least in the family of Jesse.

Moreover, when the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, God delivered them into the hands of Midianites for seven years.

For that seven years, the children of Israel could not live in their houses; they lived in dens and caves situated in the mountains.

They had no food to eat as the Midianites and other enemies came to destroy their crops and kill their animals.

After they had cried to God, he chose Gideon to deliver them from the hands of the Midianites.



Who would have thought God could choose Gideon who was the least in his father’s house? In fact, his family was one of the poorest families in Manasseh.

Even Gideon didn’t believe God could choose him. Mind you, being the least — lowliness — in his family and poor among the Manassites was one of the reasons God chose him. In other words, lowliness alone without meekness qualified him.

Conclusively, this write-up doesn’t argue the fact that God can call someone from a rich background. As long as the person is lowly in heart (which will be evident in his life later), God will call him or her.

Hope you’ve not forgotten Jesus was from Heaven, the most beautiful place beyond description. In addition, he was not just a person; he was God, the Son of God.

The book of John 1:1 revealed his identity as God, not mere mortal man. In spite of all the aforementioned things about him, he chose carpentry as a profession out of all the noble jobs on earth. Not forgetting the fact that his earthly father was also a carpenter. His lowliness was, too, evident to be denied.



With all this, he said, he was lowly in heart. That means the lowliness in his heart was manifested in his physical life. So, a rich person can be called of God if he or she is lowly in heart.

After all, God sees the heart more than anyone. No one can deceive him.

Let’s be sincere, does your pastor possess the two qualities (or one of the two)?

Christianity is not traditional religion where the gods chose some people to become priests in the shrines, according to what Jesus commanded all his male followers must be Men of God though God's spirit dispensed different gifts to each of them {Ephesians 4:11} but there is no body amongst Christians who should look unto another man as Man of God each and every male Christian must strive to qualify as ordained minister! 1Timothy 3:1-10
This faithless generation loves PAGANISM where each one of them don't want to have a personal relationship with God due to their mischief, they prefer living a life of no restraint so that nobody will expect holiness from them, that's why most people finds it easy to address others as "Man of God" please what's the opposite of that if not "Man of the Devil"?
Satan seized that opportunity to employ and initiate many as his agents to continue deceiving them, when they now find their fellowman whom they're addressing as "Man of God" living a carefree life just as they do, they want to judge him as if something is stopping they themselves not to subject themselves to the same standard they're expecting from the so called Men of God, please who is deceiving who? 2Timothy 3:13
That's why Jesus said they have ears but failed to understand the spiritual damnation they're bringing upon themselves! Matthew 13:14
