The people of Igangan community in Oyo State have expressed gratitude to Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho for his his efforts towards liberating the community and the Ibarapa people from the insecurity created by criminal herdsmen.

The community also lauded Governor Seyi Makinde, Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Adamu; and the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko.

The Chairman Igangan Community Council, Mr Segun Okedeji and President, Igangan Development Advocates, Mr Wale Oladokun, said in a statement on Wednesday that the heroic struggle led by Igboho had brought respite to the people.

Indigenes and investors in the community were constantly terrorised and plundered by herdsmen, who subjected them to living in perpetual fear.

But the confrontation of Igboho with the Seriki Fulani in the area, Salihu Abdukadir, drew attention to the plights of the people which had led to a concrete promise to improve security in the area.

The statement read, “We, the entire people of Igangan community in the Ibarapa North-West Local Council Development Authority, in conjunction with the chiefs and the entire youths of Igangan under the umbrella of the Igangan Development Advocates wish to express our unalloyed appreciation to Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Igboho for his historic and heroic action towards restoring peace in Igangan and Ibarapa land

“We equally want to express our hearty gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, who was ably represented by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko, at the recently concluded security meeting in Igangan, which was aimed at engendering peace in the much troubled Ibarapa zone.”

Meanwhile, the Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association Worldwide has cautioned Igboho against talking too much and allowing people to troop to his residence.

The President of YYSA, Mr Olalekan Hammed, who said this in a statement said his word might be used to trap him adding that not all those who flocked around him were his friends.

They should be on constant guard for the rest of their lives, Fulani will still strike back one-day, they will never forgive the burning of their Seriki's house and destruction of their settlement!

The real seriki's house should be in their states in the north. Making themselves formidable in another land is extremely outrageous let alone feeling offended enough to strike back. When other nations are planning on how to improve many sectors that require attention, Nigeria is having insecurity issues over whether cows should occupy main roads, residences and farm businesses in this 21st century. To even imagine the president himself has such a mentality is abasing. Strike back is excusable if the burning happened in their land, not here. They'd rather not initiate a war.
