With all due respect to Nairaland.
My pros in the house, came across this forum and decided to share here.
Two nairalanders here that I know too got this up this month and are still working to release it first stable version.
What do you think about it and what feature would you suggest to be added to it so it serves every Nigerian better.

This is dope! shocked

Very very brilliant! Infact, I love it.

Just start looking for investors.

One thing I don't like is the 0 likes thing. If there's no like, show nothing.

Also, put your comment box above the related topics links.

The required fields in the registration procedure are too much. It just discouraged me from registering.

Username, email and password should be the only required thing. Others should be optional.

You also don't have a password confirmation box. Please add one.

What's Dope about that forum? and why the rush to "look for investors"? The immediate focus right now should be to Grow the community not monetisation

We can both disagree on what is dope.

When exactly do you think a developer should seek for investors?

I asked what was Dope because developers tend to look for very nifty features and fancy things. Nairaland is a typical example of success by simplicity. No fanciness. No tricks. I know a lot of us scream that Seun needs to upgrade the site with new features. But I was in a village for a month with only Edge connectivity. The only website that loaded quickly was NL because it didn't have to load all those fancy JS framework that developers use to "Dope" their projects. So I'm asking again why did you say that forum is Dope?

As for when to start monetising I'd say when you have built a critical mass of returning users.

I like the color combination. The good use of icons. Font sizing and colorings. The developer also made good use of Ajax.

The website is also very simple and intuitive for me.

As for me, you don't need massive users before you start looking for investors?

The developers problem might be that he doesn't have the fund to advertise. An investment of 200k or more might change his story.

Well first off I live in Lagos. So if Lagos passes as a jungle for you then that's fine.

The most elegant solutions are the simple ones. You see all those fancy JS and other nonsense, a simple NoScript extension will break your forum functionality. NL is still king in Nigeria because of is simplicity. Loads of pretenders have attempted to unset NL with fancy forum scripts. NONE have succeeded

That coz the many that tried try to cut corners and ended up not knowing what they are doing .... That googuy have a very high chance if he continue... Abeg NL is a dumping ground and it can never change in design coz it is more of ready-made template by a different set of developers and not NL developers if at all they even have 1.... Back then web development wasnt focused more on design, if it is working then it is good to go... nw web dev is changing drastically more functionality are been created to improve ux experience and still will not affect speed... Site optimization, image compression and the likes .... If NL will not improve another person will do something beta maybe by that time you will not use simplicity as a point.... And guy u claim u r in lagos and u r still using edge who does that.... Even public wifi dont utilize edge technology..... Dont be too cheap bro...

Did you read where I said "But I was in a village for a month with only Edge connectivity." Did you read that or u were in a rush to comment?

You should download and install SMF and see how different NL is from it. Today any Nigerian forum focuses on replicating NL front page feature. Where in SMF do you have that?

We can both disagree on what is dope.

When exactly do you think a developer should seek for investors?

When you have traction and enough MRR (monthly recurring revenue) to prove that traction came from outside your affiliation.
The minimum in the industry is at least 1000 signups and $500 MRR to give it a shot.

This is amazing, if you put in a lot of hard work into this you would outrank NL very soon. Great job once again Op.
