From the bleating goat,
To the way Bidemi called out my name.
I cannot say which was louder,
I screamed as another thorn pierced me again.
The mighty had fallen!
The mighty had fallen!!
“Bidemi” I whispered his name as my eye lids failed me,
Funmi the great woman had fallen!
Should I talk about the warnings from my parents?
Or the red signals I saw with my own eyes,
“Bidemi is going to have me killed” my mind screamed.
Hoping to get a response from someone, I moved about in the sac Bidemi had thrown me into.
A sac filled with thorns.
This man is going to give me out to some men from hell.
The ones we were warned about!
I struggled but they took me away,
From land to water and then land again tied in a sac like a goat.
I was the bleating goat!
I never saw light again and daily my soul beckons for a melody.
A melody for eternal rest.
