We keep hyping these stupid transfers and disguised lack of ambition calling it retirement plan. Like he’ll be broke (especially when you convert to naira) if he played for any of the big clubs in Europe’s big leagues undecided

Good business? Maybe. But in my opinion is a clear indication of a lack of ambition. Players like Ibrahimovic, Suarez, cavani, Thiago Silva, amongst others could fetch even heftier sums in the Middle East but they remain out here in Europe competing.

I am not impressed undecided

That's what happens when people are foolish and operate based on their emotions. If he had any foresight, he could have realized that nothing tangible would have come out of his Man U spell. He could have just left when the ovation was high (and the media was hailing him) and left a good memory. But he thought he really had a chance at making history and becoming a start at Man U. Anyways, it's his life.

He left a good memory and achieved his childhood dream.

Not that it matters much but ~half that amount is for Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs.

HMRC collects tax from a non UK resident working abroad? Like do they collect tax from Nigerians working in say NLNG?

Cos my understanding of the quote you responded to is that the Chinese Club were the ones offering £400k weekly for Ighalo to play for them

He played well the few times he started.

He didn't leave any good memory. Did fans even know when he left? We know cos we are Nigerians. The time he could have left with a good memory and create some aura was that time he was doing well and his contract at Man U initially expired. He shouldn't have extended it; he could have left like Henrik Larsson. The same thing would happen to that foolish Zidane who came back to Madrid after achieving immortality. With the way madrid is performing, there is no doubt he would be sacked, thereby staining his legacy. They are all rich men so they'll be fine

Except the Arabian club is willing to pay more, otherwise it wouldn't be a wise decision.

True, he shouldn't have extended his stay. He felt he was doing good and there was no reason not to extend. Money wasn't his problem and really wanted to play for united. I'm sure he got a huge deal from this new club.

Don't forget that the Chinese government later passed a law limiting the wages of foreign professional football players to £50,000/week.
It was still God at work in his favour that he stayed at Man Utd.

If only Odion Ighalo knew that Manchester United wouldn't have given him a playing time he would have accepted Shanghai Shenhua's £400,000 a week. Imagine converting it to Naira?

I’m sure he knew what he was getting into, besides Shanghai didn’t offer £400k per week; if they did it’s CRAZYYYY
