You need a personal encounter with God
Re: Advice Me by Nobody: 8:38pm On Feb 09, 2021
Start by studying the word of God. Dwell more on the synoptic gospels and the books of paul the apostle. Corinthians, Romans and Galatians. Through this, the holy Spirit will arrest you and begin to guide your steps. It's not by power nor by might but by the spirit of God.

You need His grace to enable you. Ask for His Grace and he'll surely give you.

It is a good thing to serve the Lord God.

Hi there.

I'm very sorry that you are in this difficulty. It is a common enough challenge among believers. Every one of us goes through it at some point especially in this Laodicean Era of the Church. Of course, that does not make it easier or more pleasant, but it does mean that we are not alone when we experience it.

I went through a similar experience myself. I tried different formulas -- some of which have been put forward by commenters here -- and taught them too, but what actually works is quite different than those formulas. For that reason, I wrote a thread (see the link) specifically to describe the solution.

To be clear, what I wrote of is more than just a solution to that desire that many of us have to grow close to God and walk in sanctification (that is, to behave more and more in a way that pleases God). So you may find more in it than you're asking for or you may have trouble seeing how it speaks directly to your question, but I assure you that it does.

Suffice to say that in order to be close to God and to live the way that God wants us to live, we must grow spiritually. Spiritual growth biblically means to learn, believe, and apply everything that the Bible teaches. The thread goes into some detail about how this works. It is not an easy thing to do, so it is no surprise that so many believers (including myself until a few years ago) complain about the difficulty of behaving worse than they want to and not being as close to God as they want to be. But for everyone who undertakes spiritual growth, there is a great payout in the satisfaction of these desires, and that is without mentioning the enormous eternal rewards attached to that success.

So, allow me to encourage you to pursue spiritual growth. The Lord will satisfy the hunger in your heart more than you can even begin to imagine if you do so.

Cheers.

if you believe in Jesus Christ(are baptized and have eaten of the body and drank of His blood) then I suggest you immerse yourself in the reading of the teachings of Jesus Christ found only in the 4 Gospels.

When your addiction stirs up, pick up your Bible and read one of the gospels as if you are reading a novel. Read to inverse yourself in the story as if you walked along with Him back 2000 years ago, learning alongside His disciples.

Accept(trust) and obey His teachings as in look for opportunities in your life by which to obey exactly what Jesus Christ commands, and you will be in good hands. It is very very very important that you don't just read what Jesus Christ said, but that you OBEY what is written as it is written. For instance, there is a commandment given by Jesus Christ that says something like." if your neighbor asks you something you know you have in your hand, don't tell your neighbor to come back later, give it to him/her" - obey and continue to obey and you will see that God Himself will show up where you are. Accept(trust) and obey -that is what Jesus Christ commands of anyone who wants to become worthy of Him to do. His disciples did it and so did the first Christians.

There is no way around Jesus Christ's commandment for it is only through your obedience that the Spirit of God is able to come live inside of you and only He can affect the changes that will bring the peace of God on you.

You first need to attend Godly church and be Devoted to it and make sure you goto church every Sunday and listening to words of God gradually and gradually .. God we manifest himself in you

I felt exactly the same almost three decades ago all i did was kneel down and pray to God anyhow i can but i was specific in that prayer.
I told God "please i want to be your friend but i don't know how, i'll like you to visit me so that we can become friends the same way you did with Abraham"
My expectations was God will come and speak directly with me the name way he did to Abraham then i will become blessed with lots of riches so i can become a philanthropist helping people here and there as the desire of my heart back then.
But i was surprised that God never spoke a word to me rather it's some people with bags that kept coming to my door each week to preach. At first i was hostile to them but later i decided to listen only for them to say things that doesn't even tally with my heart desires. They were talking about a Paradise coming to the earth, God restore peace, security, abundance of food, sound health, animals become friendly with humans, no more death or oldage. Please this is not what i was expecting so i just allowed them since they're quoting God's word to support all these things.
It was much later that i discovered that God sent his messengers to declare the Good News of his kingdom to me, now i'm also an evangelizer of the Good News ever grateful i prayed to God that faithful day! smiley
So i'll advise you to do the same, don't worry about the name just open your heart and say what exactly you are saying here to God he will understand and respond but you have to be sensitive to any caller, visitor or chat afterwards because He will not speak to you directly but his messengers will be directed to you! Romans 10:13-15

May you have PEACE! smiley

Attend church to do what? Did Jesus Christ tell anyone who came to Him for help to first go devote themselves to regular attendance of services st either the Temple or synagogues, before God can manifest? undecided

Even after taking their pain away, did Jesus Christ ever send them to the Temple or synagogue saying that is the way to devote themselves to God? undecided

Why do you refuse to learn from the very one whom you claim to be your master? Why deceive yourselves for the sake of men who care only for their own status an reward on this earth? undecided

Read/watch your Bible constantly and pray!

"Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” - Matthew 26:41

"Pray without ceasing," - 1 Thessalonians 5:17
