Ask Buhari to step down for me – Ribadu

By John Bulus, Gombe
The presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has vowed ahead of next week’s presidential election not to step down for anyone.

Answering questions from journalists in Gombe yesterday when he came to seek voters’ support for has aspiration, the former EFCC boss said Nigerians wanted a generational change.

He said, “why don’t you ask Buhari to step down for me? We are looking for a progressive who can take this country forward not to look back.

This country requires a change, a generational shift, we want people who can deliver, people who can work. We want modern people who can address modern problems confronting our country and that is what the challenge is all about”.

Mallam Ribadu said that Nigeria must embrace a generational change in its leadership if it wants to be enlisted in the map of advanced countries.

He said Industrialising the country remained the only solution for curbing unemployment adding that it could only be feasible if the lingering problem of power sector is tackled.

Though the two of them do not have what it takes to rule this country in this day and age,I tend to agree with Ribadu cos Buhari is not only an expired and senile dictator he is completelty intellectually empty

I wonder why the old man is so greedy. How can an internationally recognized lawyer ably supported by an accomplished banker step down for one old-soldier and a local pastor?

@ Efisher, I guessed u never knew that Pastor Tunde Bakare is a Lawyer called to the bar.

Friday, April 1, 2011Tunde Bakare's Profile: Meet the Lawyer, Pastor and Now Politician
It is not common in our world, or at least in this part of the world, to have somebody combine these three titles: Lawyer, Pastor and Politician. But that is exactly who Gbolahan Sindiku Babatunde Bakare is.

Born on November 11, 1954, the converted Moslem, now a church founder is widely recognised as a no-nonsense preacher of the gospel, often using the gospel to constructively criticise various Nigerian governments.

The fearless preacher was born and bred in Abeokuta, Ogun State, South-West Nigeria where he had his Primary and Secondary School education.

He furthered his education at the University of Lagos where he read law. He once served in the late Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Gani Fawehinmi's Chambers. Dr. Tunde Bakare was converted into Christianity at the age of 20. Got married at the age of 30 to Mrs. Olayide Bakare. The family is blessed with 5 children, 2 girls and 3 boys. The popular Preacher is the convener of the Save Nigeria Group and currently the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Congress For Progressive Change.

Ok maybe you would prefer it this way:

"I wonder why the old man is so greedy. How can an internationally recognized lawyer/AIG/politician/anti-corruption czar ably supported by an accomplished accountant/banker/businessman/entrepreneur step down for one old-soldier/ex-military dictator/pensioner/election loser assisted by a local pastor/small-time lawyer/activist turned politician."  undecided

I do not need to write their biographies in order to make my point.

The same buhari he said is a great Nigerian? Buhari with 29million votes to step down for a man who is not even sure of winning adamawa? This man is a joke

Genbuhari3 are you the one who is going to hide Buhari's votes or snatch his ballot boxes. Buhari will get 40 Million votes. So please dont reduce his votes to 29 million. I reject it in Jesus name. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your colleagues. SAY NO TO CORRUPTION. Vote Buhari! SAY NO TO NO NEPA/PHCN. VOTE BUHARI_BAKARE. SAY NO TO BOMBS IN PDP STATES WHERE THE GOVERNORS RECEIVE N250 Million SECURITY VOTE. VOTE BUHARI_BAKARE.

Bb backward brothers,

I will vote for ribadu next 4 yrs, U just a bit unexperienced to handle nigeria, U contradict urself a lot, but I admire ur courage, pls don't go into ur shell like buhari does,he only comes out every 4 yrs and during tribunals,be involved I know u will Cos we ve to do it together. Jega and inec an example.
Unlike do it alone buhari just imagine if personality clash btw bb. Where wud will be. The former a dictator who truncated a democracy, the latter a fiery pastor, both ve strong personalities.

At this point we are in the middle of a global economic recession two mini wars one up north one down south. I think we need peace in n-delta so dat we cud ve more earnings power gas stations create a peaceful enviroment for foreign investment and new jobs in the petrochemical industry, privatise the refineries,

I know we need to tackle corruption, pdp is very corrupt, america is still corrupt even after 100 yrs of democracy, its not a one man thing we need to do it together. There is corruption everywhere even with posters in nairaland, I hope efcc wud be sttrenghtened it has Legal backings, we don't need to be jail everyone frm 99 to taclke it, there is so much work to be done, Lemme stop here, Don't step down, if he steps down for you. I will vote for u

“Let me tell you the truth by the spirit of God, neither Obasanjo, Atiku, IBB and this tall one Muhammadu Buhari are part of the new. They are part of the old that is decaying. That old one is passing away. The new is emerging and these ones are not part of the new.”
- Pastor Tunde Bakare in the Punch of Monday, October 2, 2006 Page 8

Could Ribadu be part of the "new" he was referring to when he made this statement (before the carrot)?

Imagine what would have happened if Buhari and Bakare had dropped their ambitions on time in order to give Ribadu their full support. They would have gone round the nation and campaigned together with one voice. With the backing of people like Wole Soyinka and Fashola in the South West and Adams Oshiomhole in the SS, the opposition would have had the force of a tsunami. ACN has the structures and the good records, Buhari has significant followership in the North. I bet it would have been a different story. Unfortunately, these "two greedy men" have been consumed by the lust for power. I hope they get it right in 2015.

Abeggi make we hear word boh, which bar was he called toit could only have been the tombo bar where they serve palm wine, ogogoro etc cos that's the only explanation for his many gaffes(false prophesies and fake visions),double-speaks,erratic comments and attacks on real pastors.

Buhari made decisions that have given him the title UN-Democratic. He's a coupist. Simple.
Even under our democratic dispension, he's still, that's right, a coupist, who must hijack the presidential slot of any party he finds himself in.

From the results we are seeing with lots of ACN victories and CPC struggling in their strongholds, I support Ribadu. It would only be right for Buhari to step down for Ribadu!!
