That will be how many steps backwards?

In case you don't understand my question, I'll explain. So someone gives it a name. Some people agree, others disagree. Then they debate it until a compromise is reached. Then they pick the next term and repeat the process again. On and on until the thousands of scientific terms have been named. By your own estimation, how long will that take?

So I ask again. That will be how many steps backwards?
Was there back and forth for English scientific names?

Why do you think same would apply when it comes to our local dialect.

When dey wan name after, who don ever ask for your opinion? My friend say something else.

Authorities are there for a reason and this is one of them.

In Purtugese, Spanish German, Swedish, Italian,
... Each of the words of those terms has its own meaning.
They didn't translate from English... They formed the words themselves, because their scientist did all their science in their language.
Their native languages are technical.
Nigerian Native languages are NOT technical. We do not have technical, scientific terminologies because our tribes and kingdoms did not develop UP TO that level.
Here is the oldest video I could find on youtube. It goes back up to 1897
--- I did not say, 1997, I said 1897.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afyooxsFtiI

And they had already made:
1. Camera
2. Film
3. Movie
-
then used the camera to record their street lives
You can see paved roads, NO POTHOLE, Concrete Story buildings, STEEL works, WHEELS for carriages. COAT AND TIE, SEWN Dresses.
They were already doing these long BEFORE they Invented the camera to take the pictures.
Which one were we doing in this region of Africa?
None. We just did not have the technical advance to do things like these. And our languages did not have technical words for things like this either.
And till date, our languages still do not have these technical terms because still aren't doing any science.
The best bet is just to steal a word from English language then mispronounce it to sound African. But the word is not in any local dictionary because we've not even written the dictionary.

Perfectly written. You're very correct. I wonder what happened to Africa, qnd why they weren't able to advance technologically.

So you're supporting that they should be taught with Hausa language?

Ok. After teaching them in Hausa language, will they write professional exams like First school leaving, common entrance, junior waec, senior waec, neco, nabteb and GCE in Hausa language? The answer is NO.

Those countries you mentioned above have their official languages which is being used to lecture students and therefore they have no issues.

But Hausa isn't Nigeria's official language neither are igbo, yoruba and efik.

English Language should be Taught in a Single CLASS,
like every other CLASS of Foreign Languages.

Other Subjects should better be Taught in Mother Languages be it Hausa, Igbos or Nupe.

If WAEC can Type HAUSA in SSCE as a separate EXAM as well as Igbo how do you think they can't write other subjects in That Language.

very nice to see... this should be the standard, but because the big cities and towns as we all know are over crowded and there is little space to build like this.
personally I don't see why parents take their children/wards to schools without sporting facilities.. when did we hear of inter-house sports competitions?

Man, North is too diverse, too vast for u to give her such collective definition. The learning approach varies from one state to another, from one community to another even within a LG. How can u go to Borno and teach students in Hausa when Hausas in Borno are just like Hausas in Yoruba or Igbo land. Though most people in North-East speak Hausa but many will struggle to comprehend things in Hausa which is better to be taught in English by considering the multiculture of the region, In only Gombe there are more than 50 ethnic groups.
Ask those who attended Universities in the north they'll tell u more abt the North.
One thing u should know is, Northerners hate language of subjugation and exploitation that is why they don't like English at all. Why should someone be proud of foreign language, by the way the number of graduates North have are enough for her administrative and educational requirements for governance, research, development to drive the need of the region. Attending school without learning good English will still add a lot to their lives.

I get ur point fully having served there several years ago. It's quite frustrating indeed when u re willing to teach and u can't express ur self due to language barrier. I remembered asking a question in class and one student struggled to speak English which was very terrible but ended up being a celebrity of the class. You needed to see how he was applauded by his mate. Education in d north is indeed terrible. If things were to be done base on merit in this country, trust me this quys would be no were to be found for any key position

If we really want to develop it's important to teach subjects, especially the sciences, in indigenous languages. The western world understand science more because things are explained in their mother tongue. Indians teach with their language, Arabs do and the Chinese and Japanese even have computer programming languages in their language. Trust me, if science is taught in Hausa these guys will do much better.

But 99.9% of Nigerians cannot read and write in the local languages they speak unlike the countries you mentioned.

All the nations you mentioned FORMED themselves just like our local tribes formed themselves.
Hence one language binds the whole nation.
Nigeria and many african countries are a collection of many smaller nations that were humbly minding their business.
We were forced together into a bigger nation. And that is why we use English as a common language to bind us together.

So which language should we use as national language in Nigeria now?
Talk fast-fast so I can start by reprogramming this very website into the language.
We will then see if people can continue using this service.
From there we move to all news agencies, and the national assembly.

What of India? Not everybody speaks Hindi in India. They all have their regional languages, people in Karnataka speaks and teaches their students in Karnada. You can look for excuses if you want, and you will always find one.

No one is saying we should remove English, Spanish or French from our curriculum, we can teach people in our mother’s tongue and still learn to speak and write in these foreign languages.

Are you okay? Criticized which English? Do you expect the white man to teach those prof in Yoruba or Igbo?

We are taking about major language and all are talking about 500 spoken language, who in their right mind will ever suggest that?

We can easily translate the bible and preach the gospel using the major languages, what's your excuse again.
