Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has reopened Shasha market calling on traders to maintain peace, IgbereTV reports.

He made the announcement after a meeting with leadership of the market, stakeholders and security agencies at the House of Chiefs in ibadan, Oyo state capital.

The Governor equally announced that the iroko market will remain closed.

Governor Making wrote on his Twitter handle;

"This morning, we met with the leaders and stakeholders of Sasa community. After listening to them and considering the economic implications, I directed that the market be reopened except the Iroko market where the crisis originated from which is to remain closed."

"I appealed to both ethnic groups to restore their previous amicable relationship. I also directed that the market be cleared of all debris, solar street lights installed to ensure the market environment is well-lit and palliatives distributed to the affected traders."

Shasha market is not among the biggest market in Ibadan in terms of revenue or inventory. it is not in the top 10.

Yet, I read somewhere that some people are claiming N400bn damages. I Just hope it's fake news tho.

Well, I hope the situation in the market is calm now.

Thank you Makinde, you are a real Nigerian unlike that Akaredolu that gave quit notice to peaceful herders.
What most people do not understand is that, they don't know that a lot of Fulani's can not trace their original place now, Oyo state is now like a home to them. they speak the Yoruba Language fluently and even inter marry. How can you wake up one day and tell a man that who's great grand father was born and raised in Oyo to pack out and leave the state.
