As-Salām Alaykum Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh,

Dear Participants,
Welcome to our free online class on inheritance law in Islām (Al-Fara'id)
Insha Allah today, we are looking at the inheritance process of deceased's children either in isolation or with the existence of some Qur'anic Heirs such as deceased's parents and spouses. We would recall that these children either one or more are alloted shares by Allah Himself in Q4:11 along other heirs; but under Islamic law, these children would be given their rightful shares in the following order:
*1.Male and Female Children: They will inherit based on ratio 2 to 1 in which a male child would be given twice of what is alloted to a female child*
*2.Two or more deceased's daughters: If the deceased left behind two or more daughters and no male child or grandchild, , the daughters would be alloted two-third (thuluthan) of the whole property*
*3. A single Daughter: If the deceased is survived by a single Daughter with no male child or grandchild, she will be alloted half(Nisf) of the whole property*
*4. male and female deceased's children with parents or grandparents and one of the spouses: if the deceased is survived by one or two parents or grandparents, spouse and children, it's legislated that they will all inherit the deceased. however, the children would only inherit after the allotment of the parents or grandparents (one-sixth each) and that of the spouse (one-eighth for the wife or one-fourth for the husband). in essence, the children would be alloted their shares from the residue of what is inherited by the parents/grandparents and the spouse either as group of male and female, two or more daughters or a single daughter.*
*5. Lastly, the deceased's children, male or female will be given preference over the deceased's grandchildren once they are alive. In essence, the deceased's grandchildren would always be denied allotment of inheritance with the presence of deceased's real children*

Jazākumullāhu Khayran for reading today’s lesson.
*Yours in Islām*
