Owning a Private Jet is not a sin neither is it evil. Infact, it helps users get around places faster and with ease.
My point is this, the one man who has preached to more people in person and on television than any other person worldwide was Billy Graham. Till today, no one has matched his feat; he carried his work of evangelism all across the world from Africa to Europe, Asia and North America.

Now, Nigerian pastors are keen on private jets, which in my view is totally absurd citing the really high costs of maintaining them, I mean how else can a top Nigerian pastor show humility but by riding along normal people in a normal plane. Let me give you a brief rundown-

The cheapest Private Jet is the Cirrus Vision Jet worth about 1.96 million dollars.. Lets say 2 million dollars -

In Naira, thats 760 million naira. Thats Huge!

Now check the parking fees for each single day. In Nigeria, private jet owners pay 3000 naira per hour for private jet owners.. Now, check per day. Let me help you calculate this 3000 * 24 is 72,000 naira per day. Now, per year - 72,000 * 365 = 26,280,000! We have not included fuels and maintenance yet. So you see, we have close to a billion naira leaving the church to service a jet!

God's work is definitely not cheap and would require money, but in my own opinion costs can be cut to finance building of churches, charity, schools and more!

Billy Graham born in 1918 and died in 2018, is reputed to be the greatest evangelist who has lived after Paul the apostle because he reached more than 300 million people with the gospel. One remarkable thing about him was his humility, he chose to fly normal, regular planes, ships, and trains when he went to do God's work, if he wanted to get a jet, sure he could but he didn't.

Private jet is not a sin but in my view, for pastors; its unnecessary and flamboyant.. Christianity is not a call to live big, its a call to impact live and spread the gospel.

Great piece.
However, if you are commissioned or your vision is to build Churches all over the world how are u going to cope moving from countries to countries and continents to continents? I don't see anything flamboyant about a General Overseer whose Church has branches in about 198 countries of the world having a private jet.
Billy Graham's vision (or God-given assignment) if it were to have Churches all over the world cannot do much if he had operated the way he did while alive.

embarassed embarassed For all the followers of various daddy GOs, may they be reminded that their holy book stated that it will be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for their multi millionaire pastors to enter the Kingdom of God. They should have it in mind that they are being led to the hell they think are avoiding. Mark 10:25

How many times? Try and find out how many times some travel out of Nigeria in a year. Since u seem to know, u can let us know the exact number of times.
The OP comparing a ministry that owns no Church to other ministries that have Churches is not right. An evangelist is different from a Pastor. Billy Graham was an Evangelist. OP should stop comparing how he achieved his goals with how pastors did.

Bros, the question is, what do they need private jets for?

Not 1 or 2 sef, some have 3, 4.

I don't know of the 2,3,4. But before you ask why General Overseers have private jets, go and find out their work schedule for a year! Don't just sit in your house with no information and expect yourself to have a good judgement. I remembered Apostle Johnson Suleman once criticised those that have private jets. When his ministry grew, same him came on to apologise that he never knew until he was in some situations and wished he had one. I watched the video.

What is the meaning of a pastor and an evangelist?
What do you mean by a ministry?
Who truly owns a ministry?

How did Christ Jesus went about walking the streets, roads, mountains, hills, etc, etc.....preaching the gospel of salvation.........

Try reading your Bible?

Please answer this question.......
You spoke about their work schedule

How great is their work schedule compared to that of Apostles Peter and Paul

Are u serious with the question or u are being sarcastic?
Apostle Paul had several missionary journey that if there were jets then and he had one, he would have achieved more!
Agree with me that to Christians, Church is a serious business. In fact, the Bible makes us to understand that winning soul is the great commission. If Dangote whose business is not serious to Christians as to winning souls NEED a jet to facilitate his business, how much more a General Overseer. Your problem and the problem of many other person's is that, they see private jet as luxury. Yes, you are right. It is a luxury but to only those who it doesn't seem an essential property to help facilitate the business.
Some real Men Of God don't get good sleep, they are up praying for many hours all day. Some fast for most days of the year. They don't even have time for their family. The have Branches all over the world to oversee... Just imagine any franchise of such and the CEO has a private jet. Would u consider it a luxury?

Read your Bible very well and maybe if you've got the spirit to discern you'll understand the question I asked you..........

Do you not know that Jesus and any of His disciples could have chosen to ride on chariots of horses to go about doing this same business of God but did in the way as written in the Scriptures.......

It's not the jet that conveys the message of God.

Maybe having a jet is of necessity but looking at the way it's been used says it's a luxury.

RCCG has Churches in about 170 countries of the world! Nigeria alone has over 23,000 parishes. As a General Overseer who sees growing Churches as the vision of the Church, how do you want to remain like Billy Graham did?
Note that I am not supporting all Pastors having jet(s). Sometimes, we fail to imagine the task before them (some of them).

I get your point. It is true the disciples achieved a lot without jets and the equal as in their days but note that however even in their days, Paul achieved much more because he was able to move (check Paul's Missionary Journey). Every person have their vision.
Let me ask u this. Do u think it is a luxury for a Church that has branches in about 170 countries to have a jet to facilitate their work? Why on Earth do we all see jet as luxury especially when the work demands such to make it efficient? Is it the buying it that's a luxury or u see seating in a jet as an enjoyment? I have a different view sincerely. To me, luxury is not just anything expensive but something expensive that you don't really need or not so important. Do u think a jet will make their work more efficient or not? Do you see any need for it or not? That's the question. Real Pastors don't have time for enjoyment. The don't enjoy food (spends many days of the year fasting). They don't enjoy sleep (stay up to pray every nights)... Have u asked yourself how the real men of God cope with the enormous work?

There's a reason I keep saying read your Bible well....

A church has 170 branches ............and the G.O deems it fit to appoint other pastors to stay as resident pastors and each local branch have their own executives even to executives based on zones/districts.........

Now the real question is with all this setup who truly is the CEO of the church?
Who supervises the church.....the pastor or the God?
Or you still think a church business can be likened to that of dangote business.....

I do not know what you mean by efficiency of jet usage!!!!! Like I asked, is it the jet that carries the message of God or the man?

Do you know how many people God will use the pastor to minister to of he enters a public plane even if he books the VVIP section?

I do not know how they cope to do God's work. All I know is that men are vessels to do God's work. Do you know how John the Baptist coped in the wilderness eating honey and carmel meat to do God's work?
Do you know how Prophet Elijah coped in doing God's work when he was fed by God with meat through ravens.........

You said Paul achieved much because he moved......what was he mode of movement,.,...., simply put as a commoner. Just the same way Christ Jesus did.

Do you not think they could also have used chariots of horses which I would say is the fastest on land or even own a ship of their own if they were to go on sea.........at least just to facilitate the work as you put it

Owning? Stop generalizing. Some remain the properties of the Church and not the Pastor's. If a General Overseer must visit to see to different programmes, in a year, the schedules are always too much that if a commercial airliner mess u up, no one will tell u to pray or wish the ministry has a jet. Flying in a jet is luxury if your purpose flying it is to catch fun. I don't see anything luxury about what genuine Pastors do. They don't even enjoy anything on Earth here. The things you all think they are enjoying, they don't even have time for them in a way you all think.
Evangelism in a commercial liner is fine. But there's when the schedule does not permit such. Also, stop thinking that the fact that 'they own' a jet means they will not fly commercial at all again. It's not.

When a GO dies then you'll know if that jet is church property or personal property. I see you keep mentioning geninue pastor.

I do not know what you mean by enjoyment. Nevertheless If they don't enjoy anything here on earth then let's see how many of them will give their riches to the very less privilege in their church.

The best enjoyment anyone can have is to have Christ Jesus in one's life.

Happy New Month of March. May the windows of heaven be open to you and yours to receive special and unique blessings and favour from God in Jesus name, Amen.

In my Church, I don't hear "the GO has bought a helicopter for Rural Evangelism." I hear "the Church has bought..."
Someone handed over to him and I don't know how much wealth u are talking about that was left for the Founder's family.
To a man who needs an iPhone Camera to snap clean pictures to upload online for his business growth, iPhone is a necessity. For someone who is in primary school (iPhone could be seen as a an unnecessary luxury). You cannot get a clear picture when u have no idea of the schedules of General Overseers.

Apostles, Teachers, Evangelists, Prophets, Pastors... These are all different gifts although to achieve one purpose. The way Billy Graham operated should not be compared to the way Pastors operates and likewise Prophets. That's where the OP got it totally wrong. How many Church of Billy Graham is in Africa? Evangelists are not meant to plant Churches. Their role is to win souls and hand them over to Bible-believing Churches.

Apostle Paul used ship where necessary. He didn't have to trek everyday distance from country to country.
Eating locusts bean in the wilderness... That was a place of preparation and not along his way of preaching to people. Believe me, many have achieved more than John the Baptist in the modern time.

Let's not argue further.....
Study the Scripture very well as to the positions of what role an apostle/evangelist, pastor, prophet, teacher, bishop .....all plays in the church.

Don't bother about going through a dictionary or encyclopedia. Search the Scripture very well. The best dictionary to God's Word is in His Word.

OK.
If u have contrary scriptural explanations, go ahead and drop. We are learning. In fact, some weeks ago, I happened to get some classes on this subject. So, I know what I am saying. I am talking from the Biblical view.

While you can own what you want to own as a human, there is no spiritual justification for using or having private jets. Reinhardt Bonnke touched more lives and accomplished much in this same work without private jets. Same has been said of Graham, Paul and of course our Lord Jesus. They never convert their village finish, they're talking of having church in 178 nations. What happened to their online meetings? Most of the jets is show off and show biz competition.
