Better still, tell him to go do welcome back if the phone his truly his.

Lmao, you are funny sha. Someone gave you a phone that is locked and burdened you with responsibility to unlock it and you don't think it's strange. I hope you don't find a way to unlock it cos that's definitely a stolen phone.

Tell your 'giver' to return the phone to the real owner.

That phone is useless in your hands. Xiaomi security is tight. If they successfully unlock it, once u put on your data or connect xender it will lock again. It's a waste of money.

Actually, most of xiomai coming to Nigeria has mi account logged in, some are cracked screen and some even arrived with dead battery.

They unlock it here.... Though few of them will lock again if you do factory reset or if u do update (like from miui 10 to miui 11),it will lock again.

But if you use it without resetting the phone or without updating it,,, nothing will happen.

I actually saw an importer today with 3 xiomai phones, he doesn't know about the mi account self.... All the 3 phones has London number and mi account logged in, you will see the owner's photo and info.
Mi max 2, mi mix, and note 6 pro.... All are too clean.

But if it's Nigerian used with mi account, I am always afraid to touch it.
