THE BEGINNING OF THE END

Scripture: REVELATION 1:1-6
This content is part of a series.

The Beginning of the End (1 of 39)
Series: The King Is Coming
Revelation 1:1-6

Introduction

1. I am beginning a series of messages entitled, ''The King Is Coming'' I for that is the theme of the book of the revelation, every now and then someone will say, ''what is this world coming to?'' I can tell you what it is coming to; it is coming to Jesus, this world is like a giant bowling ball hurtling down the alley of this universe toward the ''kingpin whose name is Jesus, history is really ''his'' story.

2. The first chapter of the book of the revelation is ''the beginning of the end.'' genesis 1 introduces us to how this world began. Revelation 1 introduces us to how it is all going to end. In genesis we have the commencement of heaven and earth. In revelation we have the consummation of heaven and earth. In genesis we have the entrance of sin, in revelation we have the end of sin. In genesis we have the dawn of Satan. In revelation we have the doom of Satan. In fact, someone has pointed out that there is no devil in the first two chapters of the bible, nor is there any devil in the last two chapters of the bible. In genesis sorrow begins. In revelation sorrow is banished. In genesis death makes its entrance. In revelation death makes its exit. What God started in time in the first book of the bible, God finishes in eternity in the last book of the bible.

3. Now the lord did not give the book of the revelation in order to hide the truth, but rather to reveal the truth. The sainted apostle john wrote five books in the bible, more than any other author, except the apostle Paul. He wrote these five books in three sets. He wrote the gospel. Then he wrote his three epistles. And then he wrote the last book of the revelation in the gospel john presents Christ the savior. In the epistles he presents Christ the son. In the revelation he presents Christ the sovereign. John wrote his gospel to convert the sinner. He wrote his epistles to confirm.
