Hi guys, I recently acquired a Nigerian used 2011 Toyota Camry XLE v6 2011 model (double exhaust).

I noticed that a 2000 naira worth of fuel can't take me far. If i buy a fuel of 2000 naira at N175/Ltr, I can't drive round the city and come back home without the fuel gauge turning "yellow".

I thought Camrys are fuel efficient.

Please is it okay? or what can I do about it?

Fuel efficient cars are Corolla not Camry, and yours is even V6... You be big man

Camrys are actually fuel efficient, but yours is not four plugz but six. Secondly I think d cause of excessive fuel usage is d valves of engine. They don loose. U need valve gringing

Fuel is now expensive. For N175. N2000 will only get you a little above 11 litres.

I dont want to assume you let that finish, before buying again or you will be fixing your fuel pump soon and dealing with avoidable mixfires due to plugged up nozzles.

Your car should do 21 to 32 Mpg city/highway. i.e 9km/litre - 13.6km/litre.

Use your odometer to calculate this.

Then you can be sure your car is thirsty

@ bolded not possible with Nigerian fuel...because of its quality and also that 4 litres of fuel in Nigerian filling stations are likely 3 and a quarter litres...

He should be thankful if he gets 6km per litre in the city on that car.

1. Is your check engine light on?
2. Does it come on when you start the car and go off or remain on when you are driving?
3. What gear do you select when driving? D, D3, D2, L?
4. Do you drive with your legs resting slightly on the brakes?
5. How many miles do you cover with the 11.4 liters you buy before the low fuel light comes on?
6. Where is this car driven? Lagos? Which part of lagos? Ikorodu? Some areas are traffic prone so fuel economy will be horrendous there.

You can use google to check how to use your trip meter.
