The hatred for wordpress in the web development community is just so nice. Abeg let the hatred continue so we proud wordpress Devs can get more work to be doing.

Tech is just like show business, any publicity is good publicity.

The hatred is justified though.

Its not, WordPress today is much more exciting to work with than it has ever been. I wish I could show what I am working on but its not finished. Still fighting some annoying bugs.

Maybe we can always agree to disagree on that but WordPress could have done things better though.

They have already but that particular version of wordpress is not open source. It's used at big tech companies like Facebook, Microsoft, Spotify etc. Checkout wordpress VIP.

What then is the point?

WordPress got it success from the open source community, they served us a piece of crap (we can always argue this) and kept the best portion for the big guys.

This is why I always say the business owners and programmers are the helm of affairs only care about their pockets.

The fact that they are not ready to make a change further proves it.

Money needs to be made. Magento which is one of the best CMS out there is not free to use. Shopify also requires a monthly subscription. If its all open source, they wont be able to make a kobo na.

Maybe you are right.

Magento has two versions/edition. One is open source, free. The other, is the enterprise edition, Magento Commerce which is not free but very cheap and affordable for large companies.

Shopify is very cheap even for small companies that generate income in naira.

The Laravel that I love offers so many paid services, but it is the free service that'll prompt you to especially as a developer to pay.

I was following a tutorial by a developer who was building a WordPress plugin with OOP, the guy practically complained throughout the video. cheesy

Let me just stop here today about this WordPress rant.
