I wouldn't get too wound up. Internet sh1ttalking is just for fun, nothing too serious. It isn't like we are fighting each other in the street. Isn't at the crips and bloods level |

bashr4:There is no hatred. Some people just have fun with tribal wars except when Ojukwu or Awolowo's name is mentioned, then it escalates. |

bashr4: 1.) Stop insulting us and our great leader Awolowo, give him the respect he earned because of his policies you and I are enjoying from in SW Nigeria development 2.) Anything about biafra, please stop mentioning yoruba killed us, yoruba betrayed us it is very annoying because you fought against Nigeria which includes ijaw, itsekiri, edo among other not against yoruba alone 3.) Stop screaming Yoruba are "bad or are this and that" all over the internet 4.) Stop bogus claims of igbos developed lagos slogan or lagos is a no mans land. it is also annoying or irritating 5.) Stop Ezeuche from posting he is doing more harm than good for igbos on the Internet 6.) Stop calling lagos a slum or call lagos a dirty place because igbos and other Nigerians made it so. 7.) Quit posting false population figures on the internet about your population of lagos because we hate it and it can lead to violence 8.) Stop calling your yoruba friends Yoruba or Yoruba on the internet, I dare any igbo to do that in the real world 9.) Quit blaming yorubas for everything, that is annoying as well 10.) Try to form bonds with us as we are doing the same with igbos 11.) Let's be mature and have mutual respect for each other. 12.) WE SIMPLY LOVE IGBOS ONLY IF THEY CAN LOVE US BACK. |

Same thing should be asked of the Igbos . . . .why do they hate Yorubas so much? This continues to be a mystery to me. I came on NL looking to learn about a NIGERIAN culture, but was disappointing by the numerous hate-filled posts made by Igbos about the Yorubas. It makes no sense at all that even tho the Yorubas are very lenient and peaceful people, they acculturate easily and allow millions of Igbos in their land without violence (unless forced to), yet the Igbos still despise Yorubas. Numerous threads discussing the unimportant issues lsuch as "Why do Yorubas wear Scarf" or "Why are the Yorubas dark-skinned" continues to litter the Racism adn Tribalism section. Igbos cannot continue to make "Igbo" topics threads filled with hateful replies in context of the Yorubas and expects the Yorubas to not reply. It's simply not done. There has never been a thread where the topics circulates around Igbos where Yorubas were not discussed. Why so much hate towards the Yorubas? Anytime this section calms down. . . . another Igbo tries to "accentuate" the hate that the "Yorubas have for Igbos" by creating anti-Yoruba threads. . . . yet, he/she (with multiple IDs) expects the Yorubas not to defend themselves. Simply not done. Please what can the Yorubas do to stop this hate? We're peace-loving people that tries so often to focus on our goals and success. This generation of Yorubas want to move forward, but the Igbos (because of their lost in the Nigerian-Civil war) continues to perpetuate their resentments towards the Yorubas. Let's live and thrive. |

@Ileke-Idi Maybe we should do a study on Nairaland. Let us see the number of negative threads are dedicated to each group. Once the study is done, then we shall know who has been the target of the most negative threads. It is an endless cycle. To me, it seems like a feud. If I could talk about development, politics and the Nigerian economy each day, I would be delighted. |

EzeUche:The question is, who started this threads?? Since 2005, bigoted Igbos have been insulting the Yorubas and accusing them for all their worldly woos. Yorubas simply returned in kind starting from 2006-7. No Yoruba man started a bigoted thread about Igbos in 2005, it was the Igbos that started it. |

EzeUche: NO!!! I believe it's only on the internet and it's done when people get bored. In any case, the reality is quite different. Everyone is a "live and let live mode" in the SW (that was where I stayed). No one has time for tribalism. Maybe in the 60's and our parents but not now. This generation is way, way above tribalism. Everyone intermingles as long as we all respect eachother. The Awolowo and tribalism statement ticks the Yorubas off like TNT even to the Itsekiris http://www.itsekiri.org/files/communique/communique_details.php?selected_id=79 Same for the Igbos and Biafra and I respect that. Its only when some disgruntled elements spice things up,that is when I join. and reply, not to insult the whole ethic group but the person. |

EzeUche:BTW, let me tell you why yorubas get pissed off when Awo is insulted by igbos Awolowo singlehandedly united the Yorubas because before, the term Yoruba was used to describe warring mini-ethnic groups that speak the same language. I know you know about the collapse of the Oyo empire 200 years ago. Secondly, he implemented policies that put them at the advantage in Nigeria. Lastly, yorubas believe Zik betrayed Awo (his friend) to satisfy the North when Awo clearly told him to allow the North to leave. He also forfeited the political union of the south by joining the North. They (North and East) imprisoned Awo. But when the East needed the Yorubas help, that was when they deemed fut to release him from prison. Yorubas did not like this at all sine you were their southern brothers. I think that sums it up. Every tribalist will have one of those reasons. . . .and btw, they think they accommodated Igbo business men in their land just for the business men to disrespect them on their land. That should be it. I am sure you will have your own. |

EzeUche:Here we go again . . . Awolowo was the Western leader and hence swore his alliance to the West not the East or North. If he was Nigeria's president, just imagine the level we would be now? BTW, no one worships him, he is simple adored and recognised and you do the same for your Ojukwu. Respect him and Ojukwu will be respected because respect is reciprocal. . . . P.S: he wants the best for the people he leads . . . |
