Student Brutalized By School Authorities For Playing Chess In Class (Graphic Photos)

A Nigerian man, Austine Zeku Torkuma, has condemned the brutalization of a student by authorities of his alma matter, Mount Saint Gabriel Secondary School, Makurdi, Benue state, IgbereTV reports.

Austine shared the photos of the student with cane marks all over his body. Austine stated that the boy who was a pure science SS3 student and does not offer Economics, requested to leave the class but was asked to stay in the class and sit behind. The boy obliged and decided to play chess with his friends at the extreme part of the class. The teacher found him playing chess, dragged him to the office of the principal who is a priest. The principal got 6 whips and shared it with two of his teachers. The three of them used the whips to flog the student at the same time.

Austine mentioned that this type of dehumanization happened when he was still a student in the school and still happens even till date.

Sharing photos of the brutalized student on his Facebook wall, Austine wrote;

"A priest/principal/staff that superintends over this kind of dehumanization should have nothing to do with administration. This is beyond evil! And for missing classes?
We once had only news of glory coming out from my alma mater, not this...
I'm pained because one of the persons fingered in this beat us like slaves while we were just 11year olds in JSS2 and has continued with manhandling students without any consequences.
This happened in a PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE?
People should be behind bars."

This is an ethical issue. Whatsoever correction that was intended, educational laws on corporal punishment forbids the use of cane, let alone harming. Several other punishment abound.
