Oil Palm: Is It Worth Investing Or Not? by ifarm: 4:46pm On Mar 26, 2021
A friend of mine had the opportunity to travel to China for a brief visit and so as she was going, she loaded her bags with foodstuffs and among them was a big bottle of palm oil. When she arrived at her friend’s place and started unpacking to give her the foodstuffs, her friend screamed with excitement when she saw the bottle of palm oil. She explained how expensive palm oil is over there and how it was a struggle buying it. I decided to check amazon and I found that a liter of red oil is $12.99 in naira that should be roughly ₦4,900 for one bottle, I was in shock. Something we buy here for around ₦500 to ₦600 and we still complain that it’s expensive.
I started investigating the palm tree and my eyes were open. Looking at the palm tree, it truly is a wonderful tree because every part of it is useful if you think hard enough. From it you can get the fruit bunch which is processed to palm oil, the shaft from the mesocarp is a good fire starting source for those people using firewood. From the palm fronds you can get brooms, you can also use the palm frond itself to make thatched roof which most beach resorts do, from the nut you get palm kernel nuts which can be eaten raw or boiled and from which you can extract Palm kernel oil which has a lot of benefits. I also found out that you can get palm wine out of it. To top it up the palm tree can live up to 200years.

Now imagine investing in an acre of palm tree, apart from the fact that you can get all this products and sell them here in Nigeria, you can also export the products as well and earn a bit of cash for it. I once checked amazon and saw a broom of $34. Palm trees give this brooms virtually for free all you need to do is just shed away the leave from the main vein of the leave. Dry it and you virtually have a broom. Gathering a few and binding it will give you a broom sold for $34 dollars. Now that’s what i call profit.
But establishing this is another issue, there’s the issue of farmland, farmers, processing plants and much more which makes it a bit tedious to establish. Luckily there are Agroreturns-investment companies which specializes in palm tree plantations which you can subscribe to.
Agroreturns recently established a package known as “Palm City Estate” which is for palm tree plantation. With this package you can own from as little as a plot to as large as a hectare of palm tree plantation and get paid for it.
For more information or to sign up, you can log on to www.agroreturns.com
Palm tree is another Agro-investment you don’t want to miss out on. So the answer to the question is yes, it is worth investing in. Try not to be left out of this grand opportunity
