It is not necessary for a man to be actively bad in order to make a failure in life; simple inaction will accomplish it. Nature has everywhere written her protest against idleness; everything which ceases to struggle, which remains inactive, rapidly deteriorates. It is the struggle toward an ideal, the constant effort to get higher and further, which develops man-hood and character

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that all was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, and make it possible.

A man is not just a thing to be—it is also a way to be, a path to follow and a way to walk.

No man should go through life without once finding himself, depending solely on himself and thereby learning his true and hidden strength.

Truth be told, most of us are faking our way through life. We pick only those battles we are sure to win, only those adventures we are sure to handle, only those beauties we are sure to rescue.

Fathers are to sons what blacksmiths are to swords. It is the job of the blacksmith not only to make a sword but also to maintain its edge of sharpness. It is the job of the father to keep his son sharp and save him from the dullness of foolishness. He gives his son that sharp edge through discipline.

Explain this discipline part.

Many African dads think its about floging and punishing.

It's about feeding your sons with the necessary tenets so that they can portray positive masculinity in the future.
At the end of the day, they will choose how to live their lives by themselves but consistent training will go a long way in helping them to make the right decisions.
Call your sons, sit down with them, ask them questions, have a chit chat with them and get to know their opinions about certain things in life.
Of course this discipline pattern is not common due to our default African culture. Only few men understand the importance of these things.
Your children will remember the lessons you taught them through these series of conversations rather than the ones you tried to instill in them through fear with your cane.

Most people shut their eyes to that definition of discipline that expounds it as an activity that provides mental or physical training. They plump for the harsh interpretation that commends the use of punishment and force to correct disobedience and other bad behavior.
And most children bow to these commands because they are still under the tutelage of their parents.

What is red pill

What I meant is that you should always rely on logic to make any decision despite the kind of heat that comes with the moment.

Decisions made inside the darkness of our emotions will lead to regret when the light of our rational thinking is shone on those choices we made in the past. This is where the thought "I should have done better" emanates from.

It is very difficult to master this skill.

Power does not corrupt a man. It only exposes his true character, releases inhibitions and sets his inner self free.

As boys without bonds to their fathers grow older and more desperate about their masculinity, they are in danger of forming gangs in which they strut their masculinity for one another, often overdo it, and sometimes turn to displays of fierce, macho bravado and even perpetrate violence.

Your trust and your loyalty should be something that is earned, only give it those who merit it through their exertions over time. And if one of your allies makes you question their loyalty. Treat such a person with scepticism but not to their cognizance. The true appraisal of loyalty comes when times are rough for you. Remember those who were by your side and those those who deserted you.

When you reach the pinnacle, don't forget to uplift others who are still swedging with challenges at the bottom. We are all we've got in this world and we have to look after each other. It's infelicitous that our society has made it a thing of scorn for a man to ask for help from another man. Men rather choose to lavish their money on unessential things than to lend a helping hand to their fellow men. A man cannot implore for assistance without getting derided or brushed aside.

Pull yourself up first, then help those who you can.
We need to work together to change this.

As you navigate through life your vision/goals becomes your compass. Let it guide you. Bind your abstractions, actions and thoughts to a vision. Your goals should shape how you see the world. Achieving these goals should be your principal priority. Always be conscious of time, it is an irrevocable chattel.
A man without an ambition is a man wondering desultorily through life. He is just existing, incapable of reading meaning from life. Don't be that man. Have a destination and make sure as each day goes by, you take a step closer to that aspiration.
