TMK, you should start a travel blog. This is masterpiece.

South Africa is not just a beautiful country where you satisfy your eyes and mouth.

South Africa captivates your soul, leaving you with undying memories. You're on your way to the Airport, and you just want to stay back.

South Africa is life.

Glad to know we still have fans in other parts of Africa. cheesy cheesy

The funny thing is that most foreigners always accuse South Africans of being closed-minded and too lazy to travel yet the same foreigners are always lazy to book return tickets whenever in SA.

Btw I'm with you on the travel blog thing.Good suggestion.

You're right, however, i don't think foreigners are lazy to book a return flight, they just want to enjoy what Mzanzi has to offer.

I am in South Africa though.

A Walk in the Park (Day 4, 09:00)

Good morning, sunshine!

What beautiful weather we have today - as always. So let's take a walk in the park and reflect on our holiday so far.

Ironically, the task of choosing which park to relax at might be stressful in itself as it is tough to pick just one - LOL! Did you know that Johannesburg is celebrated as being the largest man-made forest in the world? So the city is green, and the parks serene, clean and enjoyable.

Whereas there's always a green park within walking distance in any suburb in the city, it is recommended you take a hike to the perfectly manicured 'Botanical Gardens', set up a picnic spot at 'Zoo Lake' or camp beneath the majestic waterfall at 'Walter Sisulu Gardens'.

Namaste!

No Sea but Plenty Waves (Day 4, 12:00)

Did you try getting a dip into the water in the park?!

Unfortunately, public swimming is not allowed at the city's botanical gardens, but do not despair! Although Joburg is landlock with no major river or the sea, the are still plenty of opportunities to ride a wave. You know what they say, if you don't have one - build it!

So catch man-made waves at many of the city's cool water parks, including the largest in Africa - 'Happy Island Water World', 'Wild Waters or 'Stoke City Wake Park'.

So, have an awesome splash!

Come on TMK, the guests should go bungee jumping at the soweto towers wink

Could have advised skydiving too but I'm not sure there are many places for skydiving in Jborg. Where I know is CT.

I modified the Soweto pics to include bungee jumping, thank u!

Yes, Cape Town is famous for skydiving and it's mostly paragliding from the mountain.

These are the 4 skydiving companies with an online presence in Jozi - 'Johannesburg Skydiving Club', 'Skydive Tandem', 'Skydive Johannesburg', and Icarus Air Wear and Skydiving School'.

Well, apart from filling your tummy with delicious food, this restaurant franchise is inspired by the traditions, values and the beauty of Africa! Plus, it is famous for its modern African ambience and face paintings for the patrons.

Too many places to see. Was at monte casino, visited lions park...sort of a mini safari .
Also visited crocodile park where I hung a live snake on my neck grin

Is this the croc park you went to? Did you get to zip over the croc-infested pond? Wow! Thanks for sharing this, I wasn't aware of it.

SA is beautiful. Enjoyed my stay in Pretoria very well. Visited Mandela house in Soweto, Apartheid museum was closed due to covid19, Safari park though it was boring for me, wanted to do bungee jumping but the south African Uber driver discouraged me. Also Visited Mandela square in Sandton and Union building.
I remember Hatfield, Auckland, Braamfontein ( student zone ) very beautiful!,

Africa's Richest Square Mile (Day 5, 09:00)

Sadly, it's our last day in Johannesburg. Sob!

But one can never leave without seeing and being seen at two locations in particular - the Sandton CBD and the largest Mandela statues in the world.

So let's first drive north to the ultra-cool suburb of Sandton, the new sparkling jewel of the city, and home to the wealthiest Joburgers and businesses.

This breath-taking square mile is the richest on the African continent and is HQ-central for many of the world's biggest brands. It is also home to 'The Leonardo' - the new tallest building on the continent, as well as the 'JSE' - one of the world's top 20 stock exchanges.

So get out your cameras, this is the best location for a million dollar selfie! Say cheeeze!

The Long Statues of Freedom (Day 5, 11:00)

While snapping away in Sandton, no selfie beats the one with the global icon Nelson Mandela in the background. And that's a fact!

'Madiba' might have left this world in 2013 but behind remained many bronze statues in his honour scattered all over the globe - from the grounds of Parliament in the United Kingdom to the United Nations in New York, and even in Palestine.

But the tallest of them all can only be found in Sandton and also in Pretoria, the nearby capital city of South Africa. How lucky are you?!

In 'Sandton Square' you can pose at the base of the dancing Mandela - and less than an hour away at the 'Union Buildings' in Pretoria you'll find the gigantic embracing Madiba, which was unveiled a day after the statesman was buried.

So cheers to the iconic tall statues of freedom, dedicated to a man who took a long walk to freedom.

AMANDLA!
