In Edo Culture. Anyone That's Your Mother's Age Is Your Mother. Anyone That's Your Father's Age Is Your Father. Not Biologically But Symbolically So You Are Expected To Give The Same Amount Of Respect. Hence We Say It Takes A Village To Raise A Child. Another Thing About Edo (Benin) Culture. Before This Mess We Find Ourselves In. A Wedding Was Not A Legal Or Religious Matter. Marriage Was A Cultural Celebration. Today People Sign Documents. Legalizing The Whole Affair. Today People Invite Pastors. Christianizing The Whole Affair. In Our Culture As Edo people Marriage Was Only A Cultural & Community Affair. Nothing Else. Lastly In Edo Culture. There Were No Such Thing As Cousins. Every Male Child Your Age Is Your Brother. Every Female Child Your Age Is Your Sister. There Were No Half Brothers & Half Sisters. Which Is Why Polygamy Worked. Your Brother Is Your Brother Your Sister Is Your Sister. After That Idea Was Corrupted with this westenazation sickness hence We Lost Our Way. *Amadin Festus* 1 Like |
