Because someone confuses or misses the meaning of flagship doesn't mean they are wrong, Tecno flagship devices that cost over 100k using mtk 12nm chipset compared to xiaomi or umidigi using 9nm chipset and still cost lower, abeg forget the messenger and focus on the message, transition produces mediocre phones for exorbitant prices

Your definition of "flagship" is not wrong, but it's not the only right explanation too.
From the explanation you quoted, flagship was a naval term only but today, same word is used in many fields. That's because meaning of words tends to change with time.
In smartphones, every company has it's flagship same way every school has it's best student. So How how do you bring students from different schools into a single list? How do you rate smartphones from various companies? Today, runs like flagship, midrange, budget, entry level etc are used. By comparing the processing power, screen, camera prowess etc in relation to the industry standard for that year determines where that product lies.
So a phone with a unisoc chipset may be called itel's flagship but same phone can not be called a flagship Android phone.

You know it is funny how they will call a phone trash and act as if they know it all but the truth is under that guise is a confused set of kids who wants everyone to use the device they are using.
But here they are struggling under a common English word but will come out to argue chip sets and processors
