From The ESL proposal, the competition does not affect these teams in their various league in any way. It is meant to be a midweek competition leaving weekends free for league games (as it is the norm right now). So the argument about fans not getting to see their local clubs play should not be the case here.


Threats about local leagues expelling these founding members of the European Super League cannot possibly be serious. Take away the so-called top six: Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool from The English Premier League and the league will not just be the same. It would lose its prestige and revenue. The same can be said about La Liga with Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, and Barcelona currently occupying first, second and third respectively in the league. From Serie A, I fail to see how they can cope without AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus. Yes many praise The German Bundesliga teams like Dortmund and Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) of Ligue 1 for turning down the idea of the super league, the one has to wonder, for how long? With JP Morgan financing this project, it would be hard for these teams not to join the moving train or be left behind.

Do not get me wrong, UEFA has the right to deploy whatever means they deem legal to try and fight or stop The ESL from taking off but they should not drag fans into this. They have no moral right to claim they are doing this for the fans. Everybody is after his or her pocket including UEFA and may the highest bidder win.
