I'm Fortune, an upcoming Artist and graphic designer. I do realistic pencil drawings though still learning. These drawings below are made with only 2b and hb pencils. So the drawings won't look that realistic, Any advice or corrections would be warmly welcomed.

I wld suggest u try ur hands on emboss paper(needle point or onion skin emboss to be precise. It will give ur drawing a more textured drawing especially when shading human skin)
Also try as much as possible to use a good camera to snap ur drawings so dat dey wld come out looking better
Like u, where I stay art materials are almost non existent
I have to journey up to 1hr b4 I can manage to get a few ones and those few sef are nonsense quality

Thanks boss for the correctional. I'll take it to heart. Art materials are really scarce in the local rural areas. The few ones I got was from online E-commerce (JUMIA precisely).
Those papers you recommended ain't available too. The best paper available here is cardboard

I must commend u for ur use of grids
I find it extremely difficult to use grids.
I've tried so many times to use grids but the outcome was terrible
I had to go back to free hand drawing
I haven't attempted cardboard Paper sha I feel it will be difficult to blend the shading except if the person is really good

Ur shading on cardboard is quite smooth
If only u had a darker pencils

I've tried so many times to use grids but the outcome was terrible
I had to go back to free hand drawing
I haven't attempted cardboard Paper sha I feel it will be difficult to blend the shading except if the person is really good

It's been lately I'm trying with the grid. Grids are really difficult to position especially for beginners like us. But freehand makes my drawing either very small on the whole cardboard or too big on it. I've gat no choice but to use grid to project the image's size. I made a mistake on the grids of this last drawing I just posted and now it looks a bit pressed. A mistake on the grid affects the whole drawing and makes it almost impossible to correct especially when you didn't notice it early. I whish I could meet other higher Hyper-realism Artists live and row with them so as to increase my knowledge. But it seems it just me here.

Cardboard really sucks at shading but I have no other options. I can't seem to find bristol board not even on Jumia but. I've seen many art materials on ebay but don't know how to shop there. That's just the fate of an unnoticed upcoming artist.
I'm also thinking of studying fine and applied arts in school but don't know the JAMB subject combination for it. I've asked that question many times on this forum, blogs google, but can't find good answers to that.
But anyways, next year I might be going for it.

In my previous drawing,I made a mistake using grids Omo the tin nearly cast my drawing. Nobody tell me b4 I take off leave grid I had to start all over
And to start tracing every grid is quite hectic
What I normally do is dat if I have a particular size in mind say 12 by 15 inches,I will print the picture in an a4 paper mostly more of the face so that the remaining part of the body will fill up the remaining spaces. Then I use the printed copy as a reference work. I sometimes use a pair of divider to measure the sizes of stuffs like the eye,nose,mouth etc

If only u cld get emboss paper
It will give u more control over ur shading than cardboard. Since cardboard is smooth,Amy slight stroke may be difficult to control
And I fell it will be more difficult to erase on cardboard than on emboss
Abt ur wanting to find subject combination for art in jamb,why don't u approach all these jamb center guys they may be able to help
