Please am confuse how to identify or differenciate this two groups of christain faith. Are winners, redeem church and dunamis pentecostals or protestants?

Pentecostals are a branch of protestants

Protestant churches are those denominations that were birthed by Martin Luther of Germany's clash with the Roman Catholic.

His 95 epistles that exposed the heretic worship and canons of the Roman catholic church later opened the eyes of some denominations and people from other countries.

This birthed new churches with nomenclatures that are not affiliated to Roman Catholic in worship, teachings, practice and belief.

They based their doctrines on Grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as opposed to fleshly works being taught and practiced by Roman Catholic.

The chief of the protestant churches is the Lutheran Church, Church of Ascension, Baptist Church. Most of these denominations were those who championed the translation of the Bible from vulgate (Latin translation) to other local/national languages like English, french and German). That of German language was solely championed by Martin Luther.


Pentecostal denominations are those who were birthed by the 1907 Azusa Street Revival lead by William Joseph Seymour in Los Angeles. The birth of this revival brought the knowledge and revelation of the 9 gifts of the spirit which the evangelicals and protestants do not totally focus/incorporate (Though, the believe those gifts).

The raw streams and manifestations from Azusa Revival brought the belief that christians can speak in tongue, heal the sick, wrought diverse miracles, have words of knowledge/wisdom, receive discerning spirit and also impart all those gifts to others as recorded in the Upper Room account of the Pentecost.

Those who took the revelational fire and grace from the Azusa Revival started planting churches that taught and imparted the manifestations from. William Joseph Seymour. Assembly Of God Church is believed to be the first church that was planted in the order.

There is therefore a 'new string' of modern denominations that outwardly look like pentecostals but inwardly, doctrinally and practically, they're modelled after the WORD OF FAITH MOVEMENT. This movement looks like pentecostals on name and pattern but their belief, practice and doctrine is scripturally watery when compare with the real pentecostal stream.

RCCG is pentecostal, but it's is gradually tilting towards words of faith movement (like their model parishes), Deeper Life is Pentecostal, Assemblies of God, Four Square, MFM, Lord's Chosen, GOFAMINT, CAC (mother of pentecostal in Nigeria), GAP, and Dunamis

While Agape, HOTR, Covenant Nations, living Faith, Salvation Ministries, Sam Adeyemi, Ashimolowo (used to be pentecostal), Christ Embassy, etc are in the Word of faith movement (watery gospel).
