Honestly, I don't even know where this country is heading towards to at this rate.

I own a Wine retail (small)shop, so today at my shop, I was left with this notice from Edo state board of internal revenue. Prior to this notice, I wasn't contacted nor spoken to by any official from the government on why my store is going to be taxed.

You tax small businesses and shop owners without due diligence and proper assessment on what their sales returns, profits and total worth of their businesses are.

You ask me to pay a sum of 39,000 naira as tax for a store that is barely six months old.
Asking me to pay a tax above minimum wage which most state governors can't even pay their workers.
How do you expect my business to grow?
How do you expect me to live with this?

The goods I buy from the market, are they not already taxed(indirectly), and here you are taxing me again for selling same products simply because I have a signpost at my store or what?

You tax shops that are not located in government business areas, you tax shops not located along major roads all for revenues and their annual looting spree.

No jobs, no electricity, no roads, security is at its lowest, poor infrastructure, what do I seek to gain from this government?

I'm sorry if this is not the right section to post this.

Please it will be of great help to me if this was pushed to the front page.
Thanks.

This is painful.

I received one of these crazy letters at my shop my bro manages.

The bill was outrageous. How much would be my profit! Sth I barely started two months ago!

They bill you but don't provide anything for you.

That's Nigeria for you.

Our political leaders are just heartless... Ask them what why have been doing with the tax money, nothing

It's just pathetic that we have to go through this, the masses we still bear the grunt of paying taxes to fund the luxurious lifestyle of the ani.mals we have in the corridor of power since the revenue from crude oil is almost gone.

What i need is a new Nation, and if the Nation Nigeria can not change from this barbaric pattern then the country should break up.

I don't know where this country is heading...

Time and things are already hard, why stressing businesses instead of encouraging them
