End the monopoliy in the cement industry. Open up the sector for others to compete, which will invariably lead to price reduction. It's unthinkable that in a country of more than 200 million people,the only player in the industry is Dangote. Its quite Pathetic!

What Govt should tell us is how many tons of cement the so-called company will be supplying.
The company will supply tons of cement all over Nigeria for a 'massive housing project. Of course, the middle-men and wholesalers in the industry have been eliminated. that means the company is still going to make crazy money. Just supplying cement directly to the end-user. For all we care, the company could still be supplying FG at their factory price or just a little below that.

This will be news when FG intervenes for the common man to get thesame product @N2400

This appear to be a negotiation between the FG & the cement company for bulk purchases for the proposed FG Housing estate.

The rest of Nigerians will continue to buy it @ 4K.

This is exactly what the FG did in currency exchange when they established dual exchange rates, one for FG and their exclusive cronies, another for everyone else...they are bring it now to commodities, May God help us all!

What a government?

One of the major take away from this news is the confirmation that recent cement price increases are actually from the manufacturers.

Up until now, they have been feeding us lies that, it is the distributors and middlemen that are increasing the price because of shortage of cement from the manufacturers and that, the manufacturers are still selling to these distributors at the old rates.....also that, the manufacturers were taking a lost initially just to meet their distribution quota and that, it is only now that they are making some profits.

Though any decerning adult knows that, those were cock-n-bull stories and that the manufacturers have a hand in the price hike, the FG government has now authoritatively confirmed it.
