If my mother wants me to build a flat for her inside my own house so she can stay with me (her son), she’ll have a flat inside that compound. If you as my wife can’t stand that, you can park your belongings the next day and leave.

I once made a comment regards this issue to my mom one day like that and she felt so hurt.

We were on random discussion and I said I wouldn't like my mom to live with "us" but rather prefer to build a house or rented an apartment for her and let her visit "us" once in a while ( "us" simply means myself,wife and kids) .

It was an innocent statement I made out of my rationale thought but it hurt her so bad and I quickly had rephrase the statement and made her understand I wouldn't tolerate my wife disrespect towards my mom therefore to avoid see finish I would prefer she visit us not quite often so to avoid drama .
She still doesn't sound pleased but we laugh it off.

Then I realized somethings are better left unsaid.


I love my mom and at the same time I love my wife... One has to use wisdom to balance the equation.

Yes,will choose my mother over my wife anyday,anytime....if my wife can't stay she can pack and leave, won't even feel her absence...anybody choosing his wife, someone that can betray you or run dna scam on you without remorse is an idiot..no woman can even try that nonsense with me..

Though must of our ladies have Ogbaje spirit but my candid advise for you is let your mother go if she is not sick, even though she is sick take her to hospital

Why do u want to separate your mother from your father when he's still alive? Haven't you heard, "what God has joined together let no man(not even a son) put asunder?" You'd be in your house with your wife, and u still want to build a flat for another man's wife in your compound cos she's your mom. Remember one day your son too would get married and do same onto u.. loneliness go finish u then! Stupids sons. Na them dey make their papas die on time

But this shouldnt be a problem nau....she will have her own separate flat. That way, the see finish will be minimal while the couple still enjoys free nannyship.

Mothers deserve all the best things in the world and most importantly making them happy but when it come to their children marriages ( especially that of their sons ) thing get more complicated.
If your wife and mom are cool with living together then no problem. If they can't get along then apply Solomon wisdom.

This statement sounds like you are comparing your wife with your mum. Is unnecessary and uncalled for. The love you have for both is different. Your wife can never replace your mum, and your mum can never replace your wife. Both have their different roles to play in your life.

But always know that once you are married, your wife and kids becomes your immediate family. Respect that fact, it wouldn't stop you in doing whatever you wanna do for your mum.
Your mum is a wife too. If your dad had concentrated just on his mum and immediate family, am certain there won't be you and your siblings..
Treat your mum well, go extra miles for her. But also remember that your wife needs a special kind of love and attention from you. If you treat a good woman well. My dear, she will so pamper your mum that people will think is her own biological mum.
