THE DOOR. REV 3:20
“Look at me, I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you.” MSB.

Dear friends, I welcome you to today’s teaching and I pray that we will be truly transformed and look like our savior in Jesus name. Let me tell you my friends, that in this world and in the one unseen, there are many doors. A door serves as a point of entry from one place to another. By saying “a point of entry,” we imply that a door can be a gate or anything that opens up one place to another. Furthermore, because doors are points of entry, they serve as access to the things in a place when the door is opened. Therefore, we will look at the different types of doors that we have and how it relates to our lives.

1. The Physical Door: Luke 11:5-8
Jesus tells the parable of a friend at night to teach about prayer by saying that a man goes to his friend to get three loaves of bread when his friend has locked his door, but the friend will reluctantly open the door for the one knocking because of the continuous knock on the door. Now, let us look at it from this view, when the friend eventually opens up, the desire of the one knocking will be met (he will get the bread he wants) through the opening of the physical door (house door). Thus, a physical door gives access to something or someone for humans.

2. Ancient Gates and Doors: Psalm 24:7&9
7 “Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.” NLT. The bible here refer gates to a city. David was sending out a call to the city and its people who had been spiritually dull to the things of God to wake up and be ready for the entrance of God and his army of angels. Therefore, this is a challenge for us to get into revival mode in our towns, cities, states and the countries we live in and the world at large. We need to wake up from our slumber by letting the kingdom be established by preparing for end time revival.

3. The Gate of Hell: Matthew 16:18
“And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.” MSB. There is another gate/door called the gates of hell. The primary aim of this gate is to overcome the church of God and its people. However, God in his mercy sets up his church on a rock with lots of energy for the gates of hell to be powerless over the church. The challenge for us is that we have to be energetic as a church and take away all forms of lethargic character from the church.

4. The Door of your Heart: Rev 3:20
The door of your heart is an important door that you must guard diligently in order to walk with God and reign with him. Pro 4:23. The call unto salvation has been made available through the death and resurrection of Jesus, and Jesus is at our side calling us unto salvation. If anyone yields to the call, he will enter and have a relationship with the person. The problem with us hearing the call of Jesus is that the world is full of the noise of sin everywhere. This prevents us from hearing the voice of the savior who will not force us to surrender to him and he will not pass through another means other than your heart (the door) in order to have a relationship with you. John 10:1 “I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber.” NLT.

5. Jesus, the ultimate door: John 10:7-9
“so he explained it to them: I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.” NLT. The will of God is for us to open the door of our heart to the door (Jesus) that leads to heaven. Our door must connect to the door that leads to eternity. John 14:6 “Jesus, said, I am the road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me.” MSB.

6. Heavenly Door: Rev 4:1-11
John in the book of revelation chapter four got the revelation of the throne of God and its environment. Verses 1-2 says “Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this. And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it.” NLT. The door in heaven opened and it revealed the throne of God to John who prior to that time had only seen and heard the voice of Jesus but when the door got opened, he saw the glorious throne and the heavenly beings around the throne. The implication of this is that if we are in tune with God, we will see the glorious throne of God through our relationship with him here on earth and see the throne when we are called into glory because our door connects to the door (Jesus) that opens the heavenly door that leads to the throne of God.

Therefore, if you are ready to open your heart (door) to him and surrender or you want to rededicate your life to him, say this prayer after me Lord Jesus, I come to you humbly and I confess that I am a sinner, save me and be my Lord. Wash away my sins and take me into your fold and let me serve you for the rest of my life. Amen. If you recited the prayer, I rejoice with you and I welcome you into the fold. Do well to join a bible believing church as you begin your new life in Christ. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you dear friends.
