There was this hospital almost in front of The polytechnic Ibadan called Ayanfunmi/Ayofunmi hospital. Please never take your family member there because of what i saw with my own eye. i live outside the country and i was on a  visit to Nigeria 3 weeks ago. i went to see my dad in this very doctor's hospital its was a two story building. The doctor said i parked in a wrong place, meanwhile all my effort to re park the car did not work cos my driver went to eat and he had the car key with him. There are other place to park, but i guess that is his spot.
He started talking and very angry 7 of us where begging him, then i told him that we came to see a family member in your hospital, that is when everything got scattered he said he give no damn if we come to his hospital or not. My dad was still on therapy and the doctor went to him and took his walker from him (from 65 years old man) and stop nurses to go to his room again and ordered him out of his hospital. i was so scared cos i did not belief a caregiver will do that to his patient. All that happened was that we parked in a wrong place. i was the one who parked in the wrong place NOT MY DAD. My terrible experience on my trip to Nigeria this year. i payed him N160k WITH NO RESULT.
OTHER TESTIMONIES OF THIS DOCTOR.
1)One of the associate doctor told me to just go, that that is him for us, that sometime when his thing came upon him he beats the patient.

2)one of the nurses told us that, he beat her on head with broom.
3) i was told that nobody in that visibility uses that hospital
4) His wife was begging when she got to know he took walker away from an elderly man.
5) He came and beg my dad the second day ( but i took my dad out anyway)
6) Now i need a normal physical therapist to help continue the therapy at Apata Ibadan.

if all these cases are indeed true, why has action not been taken against the hospital all this while?
Re: My Dad's Doctor Attitude Shocked Me (pls Read My Story) by wizdomuche: 5:40pm On Apr 30, 2011
others should note of the hospital and the doctor, also his certificate should be seize by now and effort should be made to send him to psychiatric hospital for examination

@OP: If what you're saying is indeed true, please give us the name of this doctor and hospital so we can spread the word on his bad practices.

How Nairalanders react to information never ceases to amaze me.  someone, somewhere opens up a topic to complain about a doctor's misconduct and we all, including the administrator who placed the topic on the homepage, have decided the doctor is guilty of one thing or the other, . . . . .gosh! we haven't even conducted a single investigation!

we just listen to one side of the story and we just believe it must be true! na wa o

The OP said it's his story, no one said he's gulity

BUT who will wake up just to make up story about a Doctor, it's not something people do on a daily basis, if it's a relationship then cool but anyone gets bad customer service chances are that its probably true, you dont just complain about a bank or a Doctor for no reason

and knowing how some doctors and hospitals behave it's not unrealistic at all, even the last minister of health complained about the care quality in hospitals and clinics

We should not lose track of the bigger issue here. There are tons of Nigerians from all walks of life walking around with untreated mental illness. The doctor is clearly bipolar. I am sure his family has spent thousands of naira seeking miracles from false prophets to treat his condition instead of seeking medical treatment from a psychiatrist. Meanwhile, he is beating up his patients and generally posing a danger to society.

I seriously don't get the logic here, anybody could make up stories about anybody. A patient who couldn't afford to pay for his/her medical bills could make up damaging stories about a hospital that has chosen to discontinue with his/her treatment.

Have you even confirmed that the Poster is who he says he is? what are the chances that the Poster is not just a family relation of the doctor in question who due to personal reasons have chosen to soil the doctor's reputation?

How come everyone seem to believe the poster and just because cases of misconduct abound in Nigerian hospitals, this couldn't be an exception?

Has anyone checked the track records of the doctor in question? does anyone know how long he's been in business? Has the poster provided this information? Has anyone verified this information? does anyone know what other patients say about this doctor?

You need to realize that someone's reputation or career is at stake here, with forum members already asking for the doctor's name and Hospital. What does it say about us as a people if all we do is help fuel unproven allegations?
Re: My Dad's Doctor Attitude Shocked Me (pls Read My Story) by proudly9ja(m): 3:58pm On May 02, 2011
I don't think its fair posting this story on the front page. I mean I could have someone I don't like and come to NL to write a false story about him just to give him bad rep (I'm not saying that's the case here).

Mentioning the name of the hospital can ruin the hospital and send many into the labour market which will be totally wrong especially if the story is not true.

the doctor is clearly bipolar? And how did you diagnose that? Have you met him personally? Conduct a psych evaluation on him? etc etc?

Madness.

In this day and age we can not simply believe any story, people should learn to provide evidences whenever they are reporting stories like this. In fact I believe most Nigerians should try to have some means of gathering evidences such as hidden cameras and voice recorders because without evidences this thread lack any type of credibility and should not be on the front page. IMO

Because I have had a bipolar roommate and see enough bipolar people to know the symptoms. Repeated episodes of manic, impulsive and bizarre behavior followed by remorse/regret/depression.

Sorry 4 inconvenience in the hand of  this so call Doctor. It is possible this so call Doctor could be a quack  or possibly that he may have some psychiatric Disorder or possibility that the spot you parked ur car ,has been jazzed, and by you  parking there, means you have rendered the charm powerless. The best you can do is to report him to Nigerian Medical Association or else he will probably kill somebody some day.

I sense a total Lack of Objectivity here. Somebody comes and complains about a doctor and his hospital and most people responding on this thread swallowed the story hook , line, sinker, the fisherman and his boots. You don't know if the guy wrote it for the following reasons;

1. He could not pay his bills.
2. He has a personal grudge against the doctor.
3. He is the one with the mental episodes.
4. He could not afford the hospital bills.
5. This guy is abroad and can't write (probably cant speak) good english.
6. He was penalised for hitting the Doctor's car
7. A million other reasons.

That is how most people go through life lacking objectivity and making decisions without having a true picture of events. Dumb folks.

Any picture of the Hospital? We need evidence to report this issue to the right authorities. This license should be withdrawn if this is true.
Re: My Dad's Doctor Attitude Shocked Me (pls Read My Story) by richforeva: 11:33pm On May 02, 2011
@olumdefire To begin with tell us you full name so we can take you seriously. Your allegations are serious and could lead to the collapse of the hospital that way if your accusations are false, you could be sued. Secondly if you have any misgivings about this particular doctor there are proper ways of channelling your complaints –ministry of health , The Nigerian medical and dental council ,or even in a law court. You have no right to defame some body on a social media. Finally , My dad was still on therapy and the doctor went to him and took his walker from him (from 65 years old man) and stop nurses to go to his room again and ordered him out of his hopital , Now i need a normal physical therapist to help continue the therapy at Apata Ibadan…,
that sounds like a physiotherapist

since when do nigerians carry out investigation? even police pah pah sef, talk less of poor innocent patient and some mentally deraged doc.

if you leave in that area, do not go to his hosp. it is abt time pple take issue into their own hands (eg passing the info to others thru the internet). no one should go to his hospital. go at your own risk.

moremi you are right. many untreated, undiagnosed mental disorder in nig.

maybe he has bipolar 2 disorder.
