I sometimes ask myself, is it like a norm for Nigerian Higher Institutions to delay students when they request for academic transcripts...I'M STILL LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER.

It's worrisome. One would apply for transcript, it will take some schools 6 months to process it or even a year.

A lot of persons have missed life changing opportunities because of this menace. I weep terribly for Nigerian educational system.

If you have experienced delay in obtaining your transcripts before. Please share with us how you conquered at last.

What a country! Even secondary schools are not left out. I wanted to apply for a scholarship for my little brother who just left secondary school.
His school said they don't know what a transcript is. I downloaded a sample from the net and used his result to produce one according to the sample. The school refused to sign it or use their letter headed paper. They said the school board need to sit to discuss whether they'll start endorsing transcripts.
I realized that they know what a transcript is all along but for some reason they didn't want the boy to get it.

I have paid online for mine at EBSU since first week of this month but still yet unable to get it. They make everything difficult for Nigerians

I have 3 courses on my transcript that I never registered for, that are not even among the courses I can register for with F on it
I also have a course recorded in my 300level as a carry-over, that I passed in 100 level and never had to resist

Those people are strange - the whole bunch of them

As we know say things spoil like this and we seem to know what to do, why don't we as a people come together and build one thing that works in this godforsaken country?

I wanted to take it up with them, but they said "ideally the student is not supposed to see the transcript" and all that rubbish... as It was directed to the receiving university and not me, I would be implicating the staff who released the transcript to me.. the matter com plenty.. and I left the matter to God as we always do in this country

Naijagram getting your transcript isn't a rock science however it depends on how you handle it. You and I know that the universitiy system is rotten ( especially public universities). They employ people based on ethnicity, religion and nepotism hence there is no accountability. To easily get your transcript, you either bribe your way or use influence. Since those clerical staffs knows the value of transcript, they expect that you bribe them.
To solve this menace, all public universities should upload their results online. Secondly, all clerical staffs should be held accountable, don't cover their lapses. Thirdly, qualified personnel should handle the process of results.
If these are meant, transcript shouldn't take more than 7 working days.
