Following the attack on state CID in Umuagu Umuahia on Saturday, the Commissioner of Police in Abia state, CP Janet Agbede has said no fewer than eight of the attackers suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Eastern Security Network, ESN were killed, ABN TV reports.

Briefing newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the PRO of the command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna expressed regret that two Inspectors lost their lives in the attack.

He said the attackers had stormed the police formation at about 6pm on Saturday, shooting sporadically.

According to the police image maker, reinforcement from the command headquarters added to the fierce engagement with men on ground saw eight of the hoodlums neutralised.

He added that some of the attackers escaped with gunshot wounds while two vehicles were recovered.

The facility he said was raised down following the detonation of an explosive through the back of the building, it was raised down.

While stating that the suspects in detention were released and an exhibit car burnt, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna said no firearm was carted away.

He, therefore, urged medical facilities within and outside the state to report to security agencies in the event that patients with a suspected bullet wound come for treatment.

SP Ogbonna further appealed to parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to desist from acts capable of truncating the peace and security of the state, describing it as a whirlwind that will blow no one good.

Nnamdi Kanu should allow peace to reign, while upholding the need for security.. The situation on ground needs re-strategy for peace.... If everything is done in anger, it could lead to certain mistakes that are acute.

The igbos are aggrieved, and the insensitivity or low response to certain issues by the government in the past has led to this situation. The government should call for peace and negotiation now.

IPOB is the architect of the problem In SE, ipob is organization in Igbo land which have supporters and members including sympathize mostly from the poor once.. who believe and also looking for who to blame for there miserable life. They are 10 to 20% of the entire Igbos population

Nigerian police are liars and wicked. They shot innocent citizens and tagged them Ipob/Esn. I was around that place, I saw what happened. Unknown gunmen set the Police Station ablaze, the Policemen on duty ran away. They sent Soldiers, The Unknown gunmen chase Soldiers away. Come see how Soldiers were running like babies. When the Unknown Gunmen left the area where the incident happened, the Nigerian police came back and started shooting anyone they see on the road. Then even shot a Keke man that was just passing. This is exactly how it happened.

The Nigeria Police can lie eh. Only one of those guys died that, and it was from stabbing. Not even from gun shot.
What the police did that day was that they came to another place (not too far from Abia Mall, not at the scene) and started shooting sporadically into the air, which killed about two persons, one a Keke driver, that I'm sure of.
The funny thing is that those guys did not even run away after the attack. They marched on foot to a very far community from where they vanished.
