An Armed Robbery Experience That Illustrated The Rapture

Luke 17:34-36 (KJV)

I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

This above which Jesus said concerning the day of rapture gives the impression that many people who have close ties, people of the same family, married couples, close friends who walk and do things together, also members of the same church, would be together on the same day, but would suffer different fates, as one of them would be taken, and the other left.

Something happened to me moments after returning from a church program, sometime in late 2003, that seemed to illustrate what Jesus said would take place on that day.

It was an armed robbery incident, probably carried out by cultists, since it took place in a university campus hostel.

There were six of us (all guys) inside the room. Four of us, choir members, yet in high spirits having just returned from a power-packed, Spirit-filled service on campus at about 10pm.

Then came the three of them with gun(s) and machete(s) into the room. But by the time they were through with us and had left, they had robbed every one inside the room, except me.

Now, it wasn't as though it was a mistake or that they had forgotten to do so since they were in a hurry, but it was intentional, because after asking everyone of us to lie down, they had stood us up one by one to rob us, from the first person to the fifth person.

But when it got to my turn, being the sixth and final person, after the guy came to me, and flashed touch on my face, since it was dark and they had switched off the light, instead of telling me to stand up and go to show him my things as he had done to the other five persons before me, he just stood up and started walking sheepishly back to where his guys were to my amazement. It was as though he had seen something strange or possibly an angel.

While yet lying down, i overheard him being asked by another member of their gang, I suppose was their leader, "how about that guy"? I couldn't hear his response to know what explanation he gave for doing that, but it seemed enough explanation for his action to his fellows, as it wasn't long afterwards they left the room.

Something else quite puzzling, was the fact that my black traveling bag, was just about the first thing anyone would spot in the place the robbers had taken most of the things from, such as, cash, mobile phone, cash, perfume, a pair of shoes etc., which was the wardrobe.

And inside the side pocket of that bag which was the foremost and most exposed part of that bag, there was some considerable amount of cash. Therefore had they just decided to open it one of the times they went there with one of the other five persons, they would have also robbed me of some cash, because that was the closest money or thing in the wardrobe for them to have made away with.

But for some reason they left all the cash intact and no single thing in my bag was missing, while the other things more difficult to access in that wardrobe were being made away with, apart from my other things without my bag there which they also didn't touch.

So this was also not just about me not being stood up by them, because they could have also easily robbed me even without having to do that.

As I said earlier, four of us there of the six, were all choir members of the same church, who had just returned from a church service together. And while three of us were guests who came from other parts of the country for the annual church program held in the campus premises, the other one was a student of that school and our host.

But despite that, when the robbery took place, I was the only one of the four who was separated and treated differently from the rest by the armed robbers.

It was so shocking to say the least. It felt really awkward being the only person of all the those inside the same room that wasn't robbed by the thieves. But I knew exactly what had happened there. The truth is that most Christians are not truly of God or saved but just playing church, so it was the reality of that fact that played there, as I was the only person who was truly of God in that room. So it was just God taking care of His own and consequently distinguishing me from rest.

But imagine that it was the rapture, that's how despite that I had just returned with three choir members from the church, I would be the only one "taken" while the three fellow choir members I came with would be "left" behind?

That was meant to be an eye-opener for everyone there especially for those who who were robbed of their belongings and cash, but unfortunately, instead of taking the matter up to God and trying to get answers, one of the choir members started bragging about how he was going to report the robbery incident to the pastor of the church, because he would not take it lightly since it involves him, and the pastor doesn't joke with him.

After one of the other two guys who was also a student of the school, talked about doing the same thing to his own pastor, it became clear to me why many would have continue to work iniquity and hence would be left behind on the last day.

It's because they've chosen to put their hopes and trust in their apostles, prophets, pastors, church leaders etc., instead of God or His Son Jesus before whom they would all appear on that day.

It's for this reason that they do not obey what Jesus says, which is the reason Jesus would deny knowing them on that day.

Luke 6:46 (KJV)

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Matthew 7:22-23 (KJV)

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Jesus' Words is enough for the wise!

God bless.

Not impossible that it may have flashed their minds, however since I was a guest from another part of the country, it may have made it infeasible.

God bless.

God always take care of his own. But in this case, it may be because of another reason. For example, you may have done something to help one of them unknowingly or they saw God's sign on you or you are the one who arranged for the robbery in the first place.
