Most music lovers see Talent Shows as a means of winning the grand prize, while ending up not being able to sustain the fame they have garnered. ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM reviews NigerianIdol talent show


The sixth season of Nigerian Idol which returned after a five-year hiatus with a bigger and better winning prize of N50million worth of prizes and a recording deal with a leading record label, started March 14, 2021 with a host of shining, talented contestants who sang their way to becoming the next Nigerian Idol.

Though it didn't end very well for many of the contestants who though, performed creditably well but were evicted due to shortage of votes from fans.

Just last week, Faith Edwin-Ezeh was evicted after he didn't get the needed votes from fans. It was a tensed moment between him and Wisdom, who has been tipped to be in the finale. But, miraculously, he made it to the Top 4.

OVERATED COMFORT:
One of the over rated contestant who has been able to get sympathy votes from fans and also from some of the judges, is Comfort. At the moment, she's the least talented. But, talent doesn't win the prize because the organizers are also looking for ways to make more money for themselves. Comfort performance has been below average. But she has been able to move on to this stage. Will the fans save her on Sunday? Time shall tell.

AKUNNA:

Her voice and performance has been able to position her well, eventhough her fans aren't relenting in making sure she gets to the Top 3. She's the favorite of many but yet, the game is getting intense and she needs more than her performance to win.



FRANCIS ATELA:

He has been agreed that Francis is good. His chances of winning is 80percent. He has shown this with his consistent stage delivery and approach to songs. Though the fans still have the say, anything could happen.

KINGDOM

This "Guy" is one of the most talented young stars that has ever come out of a talent show in Nigeria. He doesn't look his voice. His performance on stage is unequivocally, unapologetically splendid. He has done what most contestant couldn't do, delivered. His last performance after he narrowly escaped eviction proved why he should make it to the last two. If the show would be judges by talent and not by votes from fans as it it tagged a "Talent Show," then he deserves to win. He has been consistent since he started-off. But winning the show, he needs the fans support. The finale would surly be intense.



Some of those who have passed through Talent shows (Not Just #NigerianIdol) and have been able to sustain that fame are Timi Dakolo, Omawumi, Chidinma, Mercy Chinwo etc.

Sunday would be another day to know the Top 3 as everyone anticipate.
